Australian Ford M/H LP3A Question
Just wondering if the truck had gun racks for the crews personal weapons which were likely to be #3 303 rifles?
and if so where were they mounted? Thanks in advance

Only had the rack in the front of the cab between the passengers legs for two 303's. Not sure if the rest of the gun crew had individual rifles but there was no additional stowage I am aware of.

Photo is a bit fuzzy. Just took it in the dark. You can see it bolts to the floor and up under the dash. Takes two 303 rifles and the rack is a unit on its own. Have seen pictures of these racks bolted into the back of Aussie I ton Utes.

Cliff,
The 1939 drivers manual mentions 'holdfasts' and 'spikes for holdfasts'. The packing diagram shows them stowed presumably in boxes stored at the front of the rear body in the centre opening above the winch position. I'm not sure what the holdfasts consist of.

There is a photo of a ground anchor (holdfast) on Phillip's No.9 restoration thread, just posted. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=22324
The spikes were pointed hex or octagonal bar with a loop near the top to aid removal. I've seen various designs, but all have some method of removal welded near the top. There are some in the background of Phillip's image, rusted & standing up. Mike

I copied that photo as a reference and have a Resin kit of REME stuff that includes the spikes and holdfasts in it. With the diagram above I can add them to my scratch built model for extra detail.
