I've been associated in pipe bands for 30 yrs,but for the life of me this a first.I've seen the photo before, but it just dawned on me-a camoflaged pipe bag cover.

Talking Rock A N D Roll with it!!!

Hey... I love it!!! But GEOFF... those two guys are pretty shy for soldiers? eh eh? Huh? I know. I'm bad.

I saw the other guy (the piper on the vehicle...) in another post in here. I didn't notice either about the camoflaged bag. Who is the Piper???

Pretty awsome...I eagerly await more images

Me thinks your giving away your age here Dear, if your in love with the 'Jock' in the picture, which I hope you didn't take yourself ..........so you took it when.............1854 you say and I suppose, the reason for his stance, is that he was just informed that the 'taps' had been turned off for the night.

You should maybe ask Geoff for the numbers of the two young Jocks in his picture, me thinks they're a 'wee' bit younger than your heart throb there

Me thinks I'd better leave now before.............

Cheers

Default Belly Hurts!

Okay you guys...my belly hurts, I've had two baths today, I don't have any rubber pants, and my daughters will be choked if they can't get thru because I'm busy on the internet pee-ing my pants.

What a day! there should be a warning before people read this thread to be sitting down, eating and drinking nothing, and go to the bathroom FIRST!!!

Take care...

Thanks Guys and Girl - with all the doom and gloom around at the moment I needed a good laugh.

Carman - Orkney - at least as late as the 1800's there was a district that still carried my mother's family name - Stromness and Harrie. And after the '45 rising they went to Canada, made a fourtune in the fur trade (according to legend), came back here and blew the lot in three generations!

Hi Dave... YES! MARK DESERVES the CREDIT FOR THIS THREAD!!!!!! After all.... HE... started it (grin) Thank goodness! Thank you MARK! The laughter is great medicine and replenishes some energy to pay attention to that gloom and doom stuff. I haven't looked at the news for two days (needed the break and am powerless to fix it!)

ORKNEY....STROMNESS!!! Cool. One of my ancestors is from there. Robert or Edward Mowat... I think EDWARD (will have to check again) I think EDWARD is Father to Robert. Two other places my ancestors hail from are ORPHIR and CAITHNESS (I think I got the Caithness right?) Some other family names are MOWAT, FIRTH, FLETT, PRUDEN, CRAIGIE, SINCLAIR and more, I'm sure. I actually have quite a bit of Scot in me from a few sources and I may even find my Icelandic 'half' ancestors hailed from there as well. I did read that those old Vikings couldn't resist the Scottish lassies. Even stole some of them and took them home to Iceland (grin)

Oh my GAWD.... what if those "brothers" are my ANCESTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're so S C A R E Y....

I'm really glad this thread madefor laughter and lighter zany moments :-)

Carman

Thumbs up Up the Agrylls!

The first two photos on this thread, unless my slightly foo eyes deceive me, are of the exceedingly Highland men of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. In fact, the Crimean War photo may be of a soldier of the old 93rd, the most Highland of all Highland regiments.

How did this reeking Sassanach come to admire the Argylls? I have no idea; my Scottish step-granny's father and brothers were KOSB's. In Stirling Castle I stood underneath the colours of the old 93rd carried at the Alma and those carried at New Orleans, and I wept. I even reached up and touched them. The duty sergeant thought I was nuts, but I think I impressed him.

"Who's like us? Damn few, and they're all dead."

Bob
