Default Dutch movie "Blackbook"

Loading of the Loyd Carrier-6pdr-Lynx - Fox. I'm looking forward to drive the "Liberation Parade" in The Hague, September 18.This time in the movie no US Dodge and GMC's around me but only Canadian (+ some British) trucks/cars and carriers !

Mvg. Dirk

As much as I like my DAF I would gladly trade for this one. The Dutch Army sure knows how to spec out trucks. At the parade in Spakenberg this spring I asked these 2 "kids" if I could look in their truck like this one. They gave me the 10 cent tour and what a machine. It has more cameras than the CBC! Notice one pointing down on the top right of the windshield. The best one was looking rearward on the trailer and had an incredible field of view and clarity. The video monitor on the dash was clearer than my TV. It seems the Dutch and the British know their stuff while we in Canada seem to buy the crap when it comes to trucks.
Geoff, Hanno, Brain and anyone else who has been to Dirk's can attest to how hard it would be to drive that rig out of Broek op Langedijk.

I have never seen, so many "Canadian" vehicles together driving a Liberation parade in Holland.
A big lesson for the Dutch club "Keep Them Rolling", I guess. By the way, I was missing my "real" Canadian veterans and friends, yesterday !!!

Default Parade

No connection with the "Zwartboek " guys Hanno? Our meeting point for the Parade in The Hague was Military Camp "Maaldrift" ( home of your F15A) in Wassenaar. Your CMP was very close by the filmshot's. Something wrong with the axle's or maybe a flat tyre ?

Mvg. Dirk

Default Obvious

Dirk, was it not painfully obvious why Hanno's CMP is on the fritz? The poor boy got taken on the purchase! He should have got a Chevy There are probably more maladys than you have described Dirk. Maybe we could all chip in and get our Dutch friend a vehicle more desirable for collectors.
Cheers,
Barry

Default Unique gathering of CMP's in Holland

I have posted some picters here:

http://home.planet.nl/~ijdo0017/zwartboek/

of the gathering of unique vehicles for the making of a new film by Dutch director Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Basic Instinct etc.).
The film, called "Zwartboek" (Black book) is about a jewish girl in The Hague during WW2. See also :

http://www.zwartboekdefilm.nl (sorry, in Dutch only!)

I hope you are as impressed with the whole thing as i was!
The film is to be released next summer, and has already been sold to the UK as wel.

Martin.

Default Dirk missing....

I was quite surprised on the Sunday when i realised that the unknown guy driving the Lloyd carrier, the one that Dirk is so carefull with, was actually Dirk himself!!:

Because of the authenticity of the film, he had his hair cut, very short, and lost his mustache too!
The only thing the special effects people, nor the make up artists could disguise was his real age........

Martin.

Thanks for the great photos! It would have been amazing to see all that!

Now, you say the film is going to be sold to the UK as well... does that mean there's going to be an English version, or will it be dubbed/subtitled?

What, no motorcycles?

There was a lovely pair of noisy Harleys, in WL-C trim I guess. And as usual the normal heap of Brit bikes.

When I ever get my 1939 Ariel VB (600 cc SV single) outfit going, I'll probably install a air raid siren to p.ss off all those w.nckers who think it is nice to run around using ones siren. Oh how I hate those things, and this is spreading to Harleys in general as that is the bike getting imidiately associated with sirens!

See here a very nice movie of the "zwartboek" (blackbook) movie, shot by the Dutch cinema-group "Netherlands 40-45", Study and living history group.

In this movie you see the movie footage taken in The Hague, but in black and white it looks like it was taken in WWII.

Here is the link to the movie: http://www.hab3045.nl/ill/zwartboekbevrijding.wmv

I'm afraid you are going to have to polish up your Dutch lingo Geoff!!
On the other hand however, the producers might realise that the English speaking world is so spoiled by the fact that every one else speaks their language, and therefore add subtitles!

Martin.

Default Surprised!

I am surprised that Dirk doesn't have tears in his eyes after they sprayed his vehicles with mud and then let all those people crawl on them. He must have got BIG bucks for that.
Cheers,
Barry

Plenty of contacts, Dirk! My F15A was ready to go but strangely, a day before the filming, my truck's right rear wheel was gone! I can't prove anything, but someone reported seeing a little guy wearing a bowtie mumbling something about a "flat tyre"...
Oh well, now they had to use a Chevrolet to tow start another Chevrolet, which did not want to spring to life. Teaches them to have a proper CMP truck at hand to help tow the lesser brethens

H.

Yes, we are spoiled rotten and with good reason... ... spoken Dutch sounds like someone trying to speak English with a mouthful of herrings...

One phone call to me for an other 16" CMP wheel Hanno and no problems anymore,
but why not used your spare tyre ? You have missed a great, huge Canadian / British
"Liberation Parade". I know the Parade is not longer as 5 min. filming tape but we as
CMP owners had a very nice day. See the last picture, the big boss Mr. Paul Verhoeven
himself came to us for special thanks.

Tot ziens,

Dirk

Default Dutch movie Black Book

For those in Canada that have satellite tv or cable and get the movie channels, they are showing the movie about the Dutch resistance called Black Book. I recall some chatter about it here a while ago. I think some members even participated.

It's on Thursday on Mfest in the east and next Tuesday on Movie Central 2 in the west. Dubbed in English.

Default Black Book Film

Well gentleman I sat and watched (heavy going) the film Black Book last night...and found it to be a total waste of time...jewish girl having it off with senior SS Officer!Germans allowed to shoot same after the liberation!I supose the behavouir of the normaly placid Netherlanders towards the so called German Lovers was normal as Ive seen the same sort of mob behavouir in Northern Ireland...apart from the fact that the vehicles and uniforms portrayed where excellent..I found it a complete load of rubbish..in much the same vein as Atonement.... regards to all malcolm
