Default Document Case?

I found this tucked away in the basement yesterday. I know my dad brought it back with him when he was 'demobbed'. It measures approximately 6" x 9" and has no maker's name other than 'Lightning' and 'Canada' stamped on the tongue of the zipper. I'm sure it's a privately purchased item and I suspect he used it for personal correspondence (Mum's picture was in the celluloid pocket). Has anyone come across something similar? It may even be that it was given to him as a present when he joined up. Any idea who the maker might be?

Cheers, Dave
