Thanks for letting me in. I am Philip Bashall of the Dunsfold Land Rover company (just retired after 52 years) and Land Rover museum and have been into M.Vs since the late 1960s at the age of 8. My Father Brian Bashall was one of first to collect military's in the UK starting in the mid sixties restoring a Dodge 6x6 and with the likes of Bart Vanderveen and 6 others formed the All Wheel Drive Club. My first MV was a M20 BSA and then a Ford WOT2H. I always had a hankering for a WOA2 and am chuffed and pleased to now be the custodian of the late Mike Eblings from the sale in 2021 at Duxford. I have owned and restored many vehicles over the years and have settled down to a few Land Rovers, a WOA2, Ford GP 1941 and a Cushman Scooter. The Land Rover collection can be seen at www.dunsfoldcollection.co.uk

Look forward to ownership of what I think is a super looking and practical MV.

Default Welcome

Welcome to the forum, Philip.

That's a REALLY swish vehicle you have! I rode in one on a few occasions in Australia, and thought that that, and/or a Humber Box, would be highly desirable vehicles in which to attend MV gatherings.

I was fortunate enough to drive Bevan's example many times. Quite a head turner. The wooden sections in the body were suffering from rot but it attended many events over the years including Corowa, it must have travelled thousands of miles during 1976 onwards .

The article mentions a 'tourer' version was produced, I think these were a field conversion rather than factory made but others can comment on that.

Hello Philip,

Welcome to MLU and what an excellent choice of vehicle. Quite rare, but I know that at least one other member on here used to have a WOA2A.

Nice to see you here.

If anyone doesn't know Phil, he is a top bloke and has always been a real gent and has helped me a number of times greatly, once in exporting a vehicle.

Congratulation son the purchase
