Default OMVA Summer Show + Camp X Visit

Just a brief announcement to tell all that the OMVA is planning a 3pm "trail ride" on Saturday May 28/05 after our Oshawa Summer Show to Intrepid Park in Whitby, the former site of the WW2 Camp X Hydra radio installation. The Camp X Museum group has planned their annual two day event to co-incide with ours so it just seemed natural to help them out with publicity. Their event, last summer, had 3000 visitors so it should also be good for us to show-off our vehicles at this WW2 site.

All WW2 military vehicles, vehicles of any era carrying military radios, dewat displays and static radio gear are welcomed. The Ferret Club has agreed to bring in some "weight".

Overnight camping on Saturday, a fire ring, a large military tent in case of rain, cadet security and a food vendor or two will be present, overlooking the shoreline of Lake Ontario. If enough interest is shown a Sunday morning brunch run thru Oshawa and Whitby to Port Perry will follow.

As usual, Friday and Saturday overnight camping will still be available at the Oshawa Museum site but the OMVA summer show is Saturday only.

Please pm me with any questions.

For those outside of the OMVA who wish to attend, please drop me a line well ahead of time so that parking can be co-ordinated and traffic jams avoided.

Default Distance

How far is it from the airport to Camp X? Can carriers make the trek there and back, or is this only wheeled vehicles? Will there be a police escort given our roadspeeds?

Last question: what WW2 vehs will be on this trek? Speak up, guys...

Default I'll Be There

Stewart and his machine will be there.

This will be the end of a long month of shows, parades and displays.

I hope somebody has put the fix in for nice weather?

Default Police Escort Confirmed

Two of Durham Region's finest will attend the Oshawa Airport at 2:30pm May 28th to escort our group down to the Camp X show. Rare for me to be following one of them rather than one of them following me but wth ! We will have to depart at 2:30pm rather than the previously announced 3pm but this shouldn't pose a big problem I hope.
