Default Damaged Sherman Excavated in Libya

Gentlemen:

I ran across these interesting pics on another site and thought that they might also be of interest here. The story is that recent construction activities near Tripoli, Libya led to the discovery of a buried Sherman. It is obviously badly damaged. Was that due to combat action or was this one a practice target? Who knows....I would have thought that all of the old armor in the desert was long gone to the scrappers by now.

Regards,
Charlie

Last one. The engine appears to have gone MIA.

Charlie,

Please quote the source of these pictures: HMVF - Historic Military Vehicles Forum > Libya / WW2 Tank unearthed at construction site.

Kuno is a member here too.

Thanks,
Hanno

where the original source was not mentioned.

Hi Charlie,

I can see another " tank Overhaul " season on this one ......... cool find, better than hitting a gas or water line

Thanks for sharing
