Default jack paint colours?????

I am trying to find out what the correct colour for the 3 ton Army jack is. The jack that I have has "MADE IN CANADA" underneath the base plate and a "44" date as well. The original paint appears to be red could this be correct or has it been resprayed at a later stage. I have attached a picture of the jack to help with ID.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Default I can't tell you if red is correct...

but if it is, they might have done it to help drivers and others remember to pick the jack up after using it rather than leaving it behind.

Default

well they painted the nuts holding the two halves of the rim togeather red as a sign of 'danger-stop and think before undoing' so I can see no reason why the jacks were not painted red as well.

Default If the Sar'n't May-jah says!

When I was a young driver it didn't matter what colour they were as long as they were clean and serviceable... we painted them with spray bombs of glossy black and with brushes loaded with the same green we were painting the trucks.

If the Sar'n't May-jah says paint the bloody things green, then green it is!

As for factory original it could well have been red as the the army really doesn't care. It would not be red so we wouldn't forget 'em tho'.

Cheers! Mike
