Default Paint colours again !

Hi,

There is always some sort of discussion going on about paint colours . I like to go straight to the original source as a guide e.g. the original faded paint found on the vehicles .

On two of my Morris Commercials from 1940/41 the base coat was a medium green with a grass/ olive hue to it . Over this green a very much darker green has been hand brush applied in wavy patterns .

British G3 was apparently a very dark green as I have Mike Starmers colour chips here to look at . I think the lighter overall factory applied green is G5 .

Anyway have a look at :

Default original source

Mike,

Indeed very nice to have an original source as a guide. Wonderful stuff, thanks for taking the trouble to write it all down (I've added a link on my paint schemes for CMP trucks page).

Default Dark Earth

Mike,
As a matter of interest to you, as a Morris man. About 20 years ago, whilst restoring a C4, I took the back of the cab off and found it to be painted Dark Earth. I would say for sure this was how it left the factory in 1943 as it is not possible to repaint this area without dismantling body or cab.
