Excellent shot, but is it foreground or background?

Here is a rather rare photo. It was taken during the Greek Civil war 1946-49, and shows members of the Hellenic (National) Army at a brake during operations against the communist guerillas, somewhere at central Greece. All of them are dressed with british BD uniforms, pat 37. At the backstage a Chev or a Ford.

Αt the current issue of the MILITARY MACHINES/Dec2011 we can find a fine photo collection of wartime German vehicles in Athens-Greece provided by James Payne.

I post one of them below, and I think it's a C15 behind the Krupp-Potze.

The sign on the building says (ΕΡΜΗΣ) "ΗΕRMES, Greek Insurance Company, Headquaters", buiding wich survived the War.

Default Same truck..different time..

While the truck may be the same truck ,on the top picture it has dual wheels..on the bottom picture it has single rear wheels..
Could it be two different wreckers from the same company...??I can't see the smaller picture well enough for comparison..Nice pictures ..

...but definitely it's the subject of the image.

It's a great picture, but again the CMPs are the subject of the picture, not just included in the background.

Well this one then.. The foreground is the sad DAF, catches the eye, but the CMP gives the picture extra drama, as being in the background.

You're starting to get the idea, Theo, but I must say my eye went to the CMP first, and I think that was the photographer's subject too..

Keefy,

Is that a Mozzie fuselage I see in the background under the nose of the Wellington? It is sitting low and level, so can't be on its undercart.

Nice colour image, too .......

Yes I believe it is... the image has had a bit of retouching done, if you look at how the roundel has been sharpened... I wouldn't be surprised if it has been colourised.

Chalky, do you have more info on these pictures? Do you know where they were taken? Always good to see pics of early CMP's especially 8cwt's!

It sure looks like it. I guess the person retouching it ran out of time while doing the Mosquito
