Default 1947 GMC Tonner For Sale

FOR SALE: 1947 GMC 3-tonner converted to WWII German Wehrmacht transport.

If you have been to any reenacting event in the Midwest in the past 2-3 years you have either seen or ridden in "Bertha". (Especially Rennselaer, Atterbury or Lowell.)

She is a 1947 GMC by title, but it is the same pattern as 1941-1946 models like these (without right hand drive).

Engine was professionally rebuilt two years ago (1960's model Chevy 235 straight six, cost over $2200). Military lug style NDT tires (over $1200 new) with less than 250 miles on them. Brake wheel cylinders rebuilt ($300). Has NOTEK head and tail lights (over $300 imported from Germany), repro canvas headlight covers, German style metal license plates and German-style vehicle shovel (all from Compton's Kubel parts in Michigan, over $150 new). Bed is wood built to match photos from Schiffer "Trucks of the Wehrmacht" book with troop seat and step on tailgate. New HD battery two years ago. Many other modifications and new parts too numerous to mention.

Extra Chevy grille provided, which would make her match the service photos above exactly.

No major dings or rust on body. Passenger side window is cracked but not broken. Is painted in tri-color camo as shown with 5.Kompanie - 116th Panzer ":Windhund" markings. Easily converted to Commonwealth or U.S. Army depot truck colors.

Starts, drives, steers, shifts, stops very well. Only major problem is headlights stopped working after last stint of storage in Indiana. (Probably varmits.. simple rewire of lights will fix the problem, maybe just bad ground wire.)

Over $7500 K invested. Will sell for $5500.

Clear Iowa state title and plates (licensed as collector/vintage vehicle).

Can be seen near Lowell, Indiana by appointment.

Buyer is responsible for transport from Lowell, Indiana (NW corner of the state) after purchase. No warranty written, expressed or implied after sale. Sold "as is".
