Default Year of the Carrier

Greetings:

I've just sent a personalized e-mail to 3 other MLUers about a consolidated shipment from Australia, reference the above noted subject.

It is Keith Webb's "Year of the Carrier" DVD which runs for 60 minutes and features a lot of the carrier action at Corowa, as well as other "track" scenes.

Keith has also produced "Year of the CMP" and, IIRC, had a lot to do with the documentary "Last Mail from Birdsville".

If other MLUers are interested in obtaining this DVD, in addition to the 3 mentioned above, give me firm orders within 2 weeks so that we can get the gears grinding and accomplish this trans-Antipodean transaction.

Cost will be +/- $35.00...who knows...who cares...ain't it gonna be worth it?

Remember....2 weeks reply time...then it's over!

We can sort out payment stuff later, let's get serious about ordering, first.

Distribution only in Canada...pity!

Default Skag the star of the show

Jon's role is documented here:

Several kilos of rust fall as Jon shuts the tailgate

"Driver ADVANCE!" Roars the StürmGrüppenOberFührer of the carrier

Who promptly falls in a heap as Stew accellerates.

OK, Canucks, this Wednesday is the "drop-dead" date for placing firm orders for "Year of the Carrier".

Confirmed so far:

Sean the Snowtractor
Stewart the T16
Sunray the moderator
Bruce the Fox
Me.

Price structure looks like this:

Basic cost...............$38.83 CDN, ex Australia
Post office mailer....$ 1.15
Postage..................$ 1.82

All up landed cost...$41.80

Do we have any more Canadian MLUers who might want to get in on this?

After Wednesday, I'll be in touch with the Vegemite man to see if our shipping quantities might give a price break.

Otherwise, everyone will have to order individually.

Remember, Wednesday is the last day!!!!

Received my copy this morning and all I can say is BRAVO.
This is really First Class, both visual and sound and really got my blood pumping. Kudos to Keith and crew. Well worth the price IMHO.

OK, guys...that's it.

I'll contact Keith/Kate and see if we can get a consolidated deal on shipping for the 5 confirmed Canadian orders.

Stand by.

YOTC-final calculations:
Sean, Geoff, Bruce, Stewart...

If 5 of us have our DVDs shipped to me, then I break bulk and mail them to you, the cost structure looks like this:

Shipping 3.45 2.89 2.33
Postage 1.82 1.82 1.82
Packing 1.15 1.15 1.15
DVD cost 30.00 30.00 30.00

Final cost 36.42 35.86 35.30

The top line of the 3 columns, from left to right represent your pro-rated cost for a bulk shipment from Australia. First is Air, second is Air Economy, last is Sea. Postage and packing are actual costs quoted from Canada Post. DVD cost is $32.00 AUD converted on a currency converter at today's mid term rates (rounded up just a touch).

If you order directly from Keith, your landed cost is $38.83 CAD.

So, guys, what are your wishes?

While I'd be glad to do the extra handling here in Canada in order to save a couple of bucks, frankly there isn't a lot of difference 'twixt the individual ordering cost and the air delivery cost. (like $2.41).

So, my recommendation is to order individually. do you all agree? Let me know soonest.

Regards

Wouldn't it be apt to get one DVD and a copy of the cover art sent to Canada, and do a copy for each member requiring it? (with a suitable royalty going back to Oz). It wouldn't be the first time a knock down kit passed over the ocean. The only problem I can see,is that some Ozzies aren't over keen on royalty these day's: )

Default Realistically...

One copy could suffice. As per MLU custom, Jon, or Geoff (or me) would acquire the video/CD/DVD and on a regular, scheduled pissup, attend the showing. Thus inspired we would go on to do God's Work.

Having said that, what MLU'er wouldn't want a copy of this (and the 'Year of the Blitz' video) on hand for those occasions when MLU'ers drop by ????

Default Exactly

I have had a number of NTSC copies already made - and can I encourage each and all to actually buy one?

That way I can at least cover the cost of hiring some of the equipment do do this and future DVDs to this standard.

Well, I've not heard anything from anyone except Bruce, so I'll make a unilateral decision and say that we should all order individually.

Guess it was a good idea, but not really a big cost saving.
