Wish We Had a Canuck Version

On another Forum I came across this link and thought it would be a good thing to share with all the MLUers. Like I said in the title I wish we had a Canuck version but since we don't (at least none that I know of that have been this up front), maybe we can make her an honourary Canadian. Can we get a petition going?

Thank you for posting the link Japes I had heard and seen this before but am very glad you posted so I could again.

The woman is amazingly gorgeous voiced, gorgeous looking, and gorgeous lyrics that really mean something. I can easily understand how she would be probably THE ultimate poster girl for the soldiers. The song IS VERY moving.

Why don't all Canadian Military Types and supporters pick a favored likely Canadian candidate who we figure would do a good song/video and do it up right and beautiful, and inundate that recording artist with requests to take on this task of composing and performing it???

Doesn't have to be someone as "big" as Celine or ??? ... just someone who would do an excellent job.

I have a few music connections that maybe I could see if I could go through the Canadian music grapevine. Most people I know are Jazz, but not all, and many are sorta "up there" and know a lot of other big music makers in the industry ..... with the right promo it could be great ...

Someone who would also make an EXCELLENT POSTER BOY/GIRL whatever Although GIRL would sell more posters are there are moy BOY soldiers

Well, how about brainstorming in here with names of Canadian artists who might be good at this? I can't think of anyone specific off the top of my head, but I was also thinking of someone young who could reach the young especially, but someone who would do a performance that would appeal to all age groups and cut through the barriers of certain "types" of music that are select groups. "With the times" yet striking chords in the older traditional types, etc. At any rate, someone who would appeal to the general public no matter what their age.

Anyone have any names in mind?

Eva Avila ... the new Canadian Idol ... young but very versatile in talent, can sing anything it seems, and a looker too

Many of her clips have the same sort of "sounds" ... my own personal tastes for something that I figure would sound good, would be cleaner sounds, especially vocals. I guess I'm a bit of a purist about voices

I think a lot of the older generations might be turned off by the music and sounds.

Personally I like her sounds and music, but not for some project like a special song and viseo that supports our troops.

Thats just my own tastes and opinions though

Alanis Morrisette has really neat sounds but she just doesn't fit my idea (vague though it is) of who would. She don't feel "right" to me for this. Like I said though, thats only my opinion., The majority chooses.

I LOVE KD Lang ... now don't you military types be taking that the wrong way now, ya hear! She has a lot of talent and a very purist voice.

I guess the other thing to think about when considering names is to know which side of the military support side of the fence they sit on. Although if the prson were known as anti-war but pro soldier and supportive of them ... now THAT would have a great influence!!! I'm a dreamer

I listened, thanks Mike By the way, Geoff loves violins/fiddles and many things Celtic ... he'll enjoy listening from that link!

Track 10 is a sample of her voice, fiddles and celtic sounds cross "sounds" barriers for many these days and people of all ages and music-loving-types listen and enjoy it, and she would be a very attractive poster girl
