Default War Birds Over Wanaka 2010

A great show and a great weekend.

It was good to catch up with some of the folks from the north island and also aussie (good to meet you Tony).

I thought that it was a great vehicle and militaria display and as one of the club visitors from the north island said, a fantastic variety of vehicles, the best he has seen.

The aircraft displays were great. I reckon the aussies in the F18's stole the show in the aircraft display but at the same time it was quite something to see a Zero flying in NZ skies. As always, the Corsair and Spitfire were fantastic to watch.

The weather was pretty good for the show itself. It poured down on the Saturday night and a few of us got wet onsite in our bell tents. Sunday night/Monday morning was freezing cold but the snow on the distant mountains the next morning did look nice though.

Roll on 2012!

Cheers

Darryl

As usual, a good turn-up of MLU Regulars and Lurkers. Stop Lurking and register now, you know who you are!!

Ken, it was good to chat while trying to solve the world's mechanical problems.

Yes Darryl, a great display of vehicles with a certain club ( ) putting on a great display.

Some random pics from many:

As good as they look in the sky, they sound great on the ground too, especially the Spit when it overtakes you on the Taxiway!

The Zero was shipped over from California, being only 1 of three Airworthy examples in the world. This is only the 2nd one to have ever flown in NZ skies, the first time being an evaluation flight of one in 1945. Rare as, Bro!

Warbirds Over Wanaka is held every 2nd year over the Easter of the even numbered years. Next is 6-8 Apr 2012.
If you can't wait, Marlborough Airshow is held every 2nd year, on the Easter of the odd years. Next one is 22-24 Apr 2011.

All up i think it was close to 30 military vehicles at the Wanaka air show.
I stayed on site in my bell tent, some flooding on the saturday evening and i had to shift my bed to dryer ground in the middle of the night.
Good to meet up with you Tony, and thanks for helping put some people on the right track .

Default Is it Shrek?

Dunno, Ken, but I know what to call the guy on the left.

Him: That's an impressive Gun. I've fired one and they're very accurate and deadly effective.
Me: Really? When did you fire one of these?
Him: In an online multi-player link-up.

I think it was a cheap attempt to be featured in the Under new management thread! It didn't work.
