Talking Front driveshaft for a CMP

looking for a Chevy CMP Cab 13 front driveshaft, I have the short part that attaches to the transfer case, not sure if they used different lengths in the front but this one will be going into my CGT. Thanks!

Also have an extra master and booster for a CGT available as well... needs rebuilding

Default Picking up a brand new rear shaft Monday

Hi Stony

I'll be picking up an all new rear drive shaft Monday so will let you know that works out soon.

Do you have access to the different parts books to see if the front drive shaft is common across all of 3 ton chassis?

Cheers Phil

Thanks Phil, info seems to be hard to come by online -but from what I can tell if it had the Chevy 216, the front driveshaft should be the same length. Are you having a driveshaft made up?

Default Yes, brand new

Hi Stony

Yes, I'm having a brand new rear drive shaft for my Pat 13 C60S made, all new off the shelf Spicer parts. (See http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=30454 for the how and why.)

Choice was reuse some of my "original" drive shaft parts or have a whole new shaft made, I decided to keep the orginal and put it on the shelf with other orginal parts that I've replaced over the years.

I'll have more information to share later this week once I've picked it up installed it and road tested the truck.

Cheers Phil

PS- See the other thread - new shaft was 1 1/4 inches to long. Rats!! They'll fix it but it is a pain.

Based on Chevrolet Parts List No. 197 dated August 1942, all 4x4 CMP from C15A to C60L (including CGT) use the same front axle propeller shaft. It appears that the C60X shaft has some (unknown) difference to cause a different part number so it isn't quite "all CMPs use the same shaft".
