Bob, Barbies in Kiwi slang means a BBQ, get your mind in gear, sometimes the gearbox slips. I know this from experience Gilles

..... the Hammond barn will have to be renamed the Fat Farm after that weekend......... ..... I agree with Stewart..... can you cook for a week.....??? ONE [SIZE="7"]BIG [SIZE="2"] suggestion..... we should have a "TIP" can for the Kitchen operator..... Porta potty is free....... paper is $2.00 a square...... should be rich after the Nacho run..... I understand Kap-thin Nacho ( Great Saviour of Rusted Sea-Him-Pee) is to make an appearance at the BBQ.....

Hi Guys Well, today I went to the US and picked up my order of Meals Ready to Eat, (680 lbs)not the small envelopes but the large tray types. These are large portions of foods, sides and desserts. I also picked up a case of canned bacon, small cheese cans etc. This food is the same that is used in the US military kitchens and is quite good. I will have the food with me in Hammond. I will also have some of the original MRE packages some will be for sale. Gilles

Thanks for the offer for the range but I have 2 brand new spares and recently sent one to scrap because I didn't feel like cleaning and fixing it. I have 6 spare stoves that I don't use, 3 are brand new in the box. The Kitchen stoves (Modern Burner Units MBU) run on diesel and are electronic control, press a button it starts.
Also for those that insult my MREs you should have waited till after the event, at this moment I have started a list, so beware. . You guys are thinking of the old US rations where the last thing they did prior to closing the can was to insert a handful of salt. the new MRE trays that I have are: sliced roast beef in gravy, chicken breasts in gravy, spicy pulled pork etc. The trays are for large groups 15 -16 persons. If anyone is interested were have some recent individual rations for sale, these are the US type. Gilles |

With regrets unable. Niner Domestic concurred with orders from Niner Minor, and their chief provisioner, driver and maintainer, I must comply.

Last year, due to unforeseen circumstances, Brian and I had to cancel our trip to the 65th anniversary of D Day. This year, due to circumstances again, we didn't make the 65th anniversary of VE Day. A big disappointment for sure. Alas, all is not lost as we got wind of Mr. Carriere resurrecting his "Big Bad Bob's BBQ". It looks like we will be able to attend this 3rd most prestigious event, God willing and if the summer weather holds out in Ottawa. How early do you guys get snow? Brian and I have been reluctant to commit, but after the OMVA show where we checked with the characters involved it looks like all three will be at the BBQ. If that is the case there will be no chance of border raids. The scheduled departure from Castleton is 5:am Saturday morning so we should arrive in time for Gilles' bacon and eggs.
Cheers, Barry

BBQ Prep
As the Hammond event nears, Bob put the final touches on the field. Tonight, he cut the lawn, or as he put it, "It's time to maudigras." The excitement is building!

Hi Bob
I'll be heading up Friday morning but will be stopping in Ottawa to check out the WarMuseum first. I figure I'll be by in the afternoon on Friday.

Bob
I had sent you an e-mail May 8 about when I expected to be up for the weekend. You have a meal plan for me that is for too many meals. I don't expect to get up to Hammond till mid day Saturday. Only sign me up for a steak for supper and Sunday breakfast. Since tea has been incuded on the menu, I'll have a cuppa please. Gord |
