C15ta
I am just writing about the C15TA trucks. There appears to have been two versions initially before the C15AA fully-armoured versions: C15TA-ARMD-1 [Personnel Carrier] and ARMD-1WT Wireless Car. On the WC photo there is the expected 'W/T' but on the Personnel version there is an 'O'. I know 'S' = radio suppressed but please excuse my igmorance but what does 'O' stand for please?
So far I have come across just two contracts: Canadian LV 2524 and British S/M 2611. There seems to be no seperate contract for British W/T trucks. |

S/M 6507
Alex, does the parts manual say what type of vehicle was supplied to S/M 6507? This is the first new Chevrolet contract that I have come across for some time that I have no information about. The last were the C8A HUPs.
I know that there were '1943' and '1944' Model C15TAs, and I suspect that as 6507 is a late war contract that it relates to '4 Models. I have yet to see anything on sites about the W/T verison of the APC. |

That is all the info they give in the manual... Nothing on the W/T at all Nothing in the maintenance manual.. This is the latest and last parts manual..April '45 .. Hamilton Bridge supplied the armoured doors and rifle flaps,it says and somewhere they changed from 6V to 12 V generators and electrical systems, but again no more info on where such as serial nos. or dates...Frustrating.. Shallow(7 5/16") to deep (11 7/8") engine oil pan changed at ser# 384.. Found it..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The engine changed to accomodate the 12v generator!! at serial Number 384.... So possibley the W/Ts were in that lot..after384........

Serial?
# 38449 and then what please Alex? Interesting that they used 6v initially, although I fully understand that they changed to 12v for the Wireless versions. At least they did not go to 24v!
By the way I collect GM of Canada serial # changes..somewhere out there is a list of changes to 216 engines explaining why they went from TR to PR, SR, XR, etc. I believed they were to do with things like oil fillers and suchlike. |
