Default Ute ID please

Hi all,

This Utility is down the road from home (near Windsor, NSW), clearly as a garden ornament (for a tow truck operator who loves having garden ornaments like this all over his place!). Initially, i dismissed it, but the more i looked as i drove past, the more I started to see the camo pattern on the body and i started to wonder.

Can someone please ID what it is, so i stop wondering every time i drive past?

I am not interested in it as I have too many projects, but am interested in not seeing it rust away in his front yard! (im tempted to annonomyously drop off some sump oil with a note to say use this and stop your garden ornament rusting away!)

If anyone is interested in following up on it, i am happy to pass on the exact location. I dont know better details of condition or such, or details of the owner, only a location/address but am happy to pass them on and you can try to make contact.

Cheers,
Ian.

Could be, looks like K series front end.
Wheels don't look quite right though.

Yes Richard, It is a KB-1 introduced by IHC in 1940. Here is a photo of a 1946 model KB-1. Note it has a different moulding below the windows but is basically the same.

Regards Rick.

Default smashed ute

In 1978 I spotted one of those in a paddock up near Warrandyte . It was in very good order and it must have been driveable because about a week later when I drove past, the same ute was sitting in the same paddock but the grill and front end had been caved in by a prang with something - I'd say a tree in the paddock. My guess is hoons had taken it for a spin and decided to hit a tree with it ... Mike

Thanks very much guys!

I knew posting the pictures here would get either the spot on answer, or at least start an interesting conversation (or both!).

The offer still stands if anyone is interested in the details of where it is, especially as we now know what it is! Around my area, it has a very high chance of being talked out of his hands and then to be rodded, hence the keenness to not see this happen!

Cheers,
Ian.
