I have no connection to the seller, but thought I would share it for those on the hunt for a carrier, currently on milweb, and located in Canada.

Carriers on Milweb
There is, or recently were, about three other carriers on Milweb. Some restored and some not but all with equally high prices. It will be interesting to see if any sell even close to the asking prices.

Just going by what the carriers are worth on the dark side from here, I thought it wasn't too bad.
The tracks are there, rebuilt engine and what looks to be a fairly sound, complete hull and lots of I guess hard to find parts on the ground. At that price, does that mean 50k - 70K for a restored one is far more than they are worth over there. Colin |

I mean, there has to be a cap on how may people there are out there who are willing to pay $20K for a project and $70 for a complete one...right? |

Carrier prices
Carriers seem to be in fashion worldwide. The asking price and the selling price are always based on pure science and a calculated mathmatical formula
based on the thickness of an individuals wallet. I bought a carrier about a year ago with some armour missing (standard) no motor, good track, a jack and some tools, radiator, air filters and the seats and steering all there. $1000 and $400 to get it home. I bought another hull in better condition a few months ago with an engine cover and all road wheels but no diff or track for the same price. I also travel hundreds of miles looking for these parts, not Gumtree. A carrier sold here in WA last year for $14k complete, restored and running. One sold at J Swans clearance a couple of years ago for $23K or abouts When I sell one of mine do you think I'll be asking $70k pounds? Why not if some one is dumb enough to pay that. Wayne. |

Ive been after one for ages, done a deal on few only for silly money ones to pop up on Milweb and kick the arse out of the deal!! One in Italy, complete, history from North Afrika and Sicily. Used to dig the Turin Tunnel with a drilling rig on the front, still there and price asking for a resto was about £30K! I was booking my flights to view when they wouldnt drop price! Dont worry, got one in pipeline and as soon as I get mine the interest will fall off and you will all be able to get one for couple $K.

Just food for thought.
How much does $25,000 worth buy in the way of a pretty common sort of a motor car? About half of one? Something you can go down the road and buy on any average day. (assuming you have the money to spare) At home it would cost around $60,000 for a reasonable speced V8 Holden Commodore. (average to good, nice new car) How does that compare to something you can't find? You are right about how it happens Paul,(that's just life) but depending on which side of ownership your on, it changes how you see it. Be discerning about what you buy. There is not a lot of NOS carrier parts floating around the world waiting for you to trip over. If you don't get one with most of the bits, you are going to be making the bits, because your tired of waiting for them to turn up. BTW, after you made them, they will turn up.

I thought 20k was about right for what was there... Rebuilt engine and uncut hull... Plenty of the right bits. As Lynn has already said, an average new car in the UK will set you back about 20 - 30k. Carriers are not in abundance, any ww2 armour will command money, and something that is easy....ish to move about like a carrier is even more...... And don't even think of trying to purchase German armour, unless you are seriously loaded.
I got my carrier at a good price, but look what I have had to go through to get it back to where it is now..... And it's still not finished ! Countless coins spent searching for bits... Hunting patterns out, re creating armour.....don't even get me started on the price of tooling. Paul, this harks back to your initial thread about wanting a carrier... The project may seem expensive but it may save you on costs for tooling or making more bits. Not to mention time ! I am four years into my build partly because I work full time shift work, but partly because it is not a cheap hobby, and unlike some, I cannot throw top dollar at the project and get it done quickly. Which means when I am hunting for parts which others are also hunting for..... I cannot offer the same coinage to the seller to get it.... Ultimately it means I have to think outside the box....again it takes time.
