I have contacted the appropriate authorities and there may be a chance of having Sir Tom as part of our event. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The next KVE newsletter will be out at the end of January. If anyone has anything to contribute please forward to me by 20th January. If you have any For Sale or Wanted advertisements here is your chance to advertise. Just think Corowa is only 2 months away so you might be able to organise an exchange of goods at Corowa.

We are also planning to include a section on Upcoming Events. If you have details of an event occurring during the year please provide me with details to include in our newsletter.

We are also after stories on past events and vehicle restorations.

My email is kveinc@optusnet.com.au

I now have 153 pre-registered participants. Numbers are increasing daily. Thanks to those who have sent in their forms. It makes it easier if we can have your details. If you don't pre-register you won't receive a completed certificate or the mementoes. Rick is currently designing the metal badge for 2010. I am sure it will look great.

We now have 95 pre-registered Jeeps and the breakdown is 47 Ford and 48 Willys. I am still predicting approx 200 Jeeps. We always get approx 50 vehicles who turn up without pre-registering and they always wish they had sent in their Entry.

The next KVE newsletter will be out very soon. If you have anything to contribute including For Sale and Wanted items they need to be with me by Wednesday 20th January. I currently have some very interesting reports and contributions from people throughout the world.

With 7 weeks to go remember to get your Entry Form in ASAP.

The latest KVE newsletter is out.

The numbers of vehicles are increasing daily and I now have 176 preregistered participants. There must be at least 110 Jeeps. Fortunately we also have a few other vehicles registered too. These include a number of Motorcycles, Blitz's, Mack Truck, Dodges, Land Rovers, Studebakers, Chevs, Mokes, Kaiser Wrecker, Unimogs etc.

I have had discussions with people who may be driving their vehicles from Western Australia and North Queensland. We do have an award for the longest distance driven in a military vehicle which makes it to Corowa. There might be a few contenders for this in 2010.

I have posted off some packages to the Tourist Information Centres at Corowa and Chiltern so we are bound to get some good publicity again this year.

Hope you have sent your Entry Form in or are planning to shortly so you will receive our package with mementoes.

If you have any questions feel free to ask here or send me a private email.
Six weeks to go and we will all be able to catch up.

The Corowa Swim-in website now has reports going back to 1980. Lots of interesting reading. We have also added to the section about who can attend this event.

The latest count of pre-registered participants is 194. I have just had a look at the metal badge for 2010 and it looks great. if you pre-register you will receive one of these in your pack. There are currently 119 Jeeps.

Not many sleeps left!

Default MLU get together and merchandise

I will ask the dummb question. Will there be an MLU get together at Corowa this year and will anybody have MLU stuff to sell, like stickers and stubby coolers ( hint)? Why should the jeep people have all the fun.

I won't be there this year (due to monetary restraints associated with recent retirement) but the sticker thing I can arrange if enough are interested. Just let me know, and if so, sort out to whom to send them.

Jif
Jif..
You would have more money for traveling and partying if you would cut out that high living and cut back on lodgings..food ..and clothing..
What's wrong with living at the Mission..??Free grub...free lodgings...
You may have to make the morning prayer meetings to stay qualified but you can catch 40 winks at them..

Then you would be able to save your pension checks for important stuff..
Like Corowa..BBB's Barbecue..etc...
Just a suggestion..

There will be a MLU get together. If you take a look at our program in the current newsletter it states the following will occur on Saturday 13th March at Corowa Airport. 12.30pm: MLU Forum group photo and MVCA group photo

The newsletter is now on the website along with trip reports going back to 1980. If you would like to be kept informed of updates and you haven't received an email from me please forward your email and contact details to kveinc@optusnet.com.au

I now have over 200 entries and if you pre-register by 28th February you will receive your own participant pack.

I have been keeping in touch with the local Tourist Information Centre and we are due to hear back on our request regarding Sir Tom Jones and David Campbell being in our parade on Saturday morning shortly.

There will be space at the site office for MLU memborabilia if Geoff is able to get some over to us.

This weekend we are having a working bee to put together the participant packs. Here is some of the information which will appear on the back of the packs. Inside the packs will be other information which needs to be read as well. We have organised some mementoes so make sure you pre-register to be a part of this great event. You don't have to bring a vehicle to get a pack.

Details of Parade on Saturday 13th March
Convoy organiser: John Oldenmenger – 0425 253253

Commence lining up at 7.30am. Must be in place by 8.30am. The parade will commence at 9am SHARP. Make sure you are in your vehicle ready to leave at 8.50.

This will be the biggest convoy and photo shoot yet. Please be patient and follow instructions given by the marshals. With the large number of Jeeps they will be categorised into the following groups and will have the following coloured labels:
• Willys Jeeps: Yellow label
• Ford Jeeps: Blue label
Each Jeep must have either a blue or a yellow label. If they are in the Early, Special or Modified categories they will also have one of the following labels:
 Early Jeeps: White label
 Special Jeeps: Green label
 Modified Jeeps: Maroon label

Line up at Bangerang Park
Convoy marshals in fluorescent vests will assemble all the vehicle categories. Tracked Vehicles will line up in the old line up area opposite Ball Park Caravan Park. They will lead the parade. All other vehicles will be at Bangerang Park. ‘Early’ Jeeps with white labels will be at the very front of the convoy followed by the ‘Special’ Jeeps with green labels. Once the convoy starts, marshals will alternate a Willys followed by a Ford Jeep so at the Airport the Fords will stay on the right hand side and the Willys on the left hand side of tape. The ‘modified’ Jeeps with maroon labels will be at the end of the Jeep convoy. The motorcycles will follow the Jeeps. Then the Staff Cars, Landrovers, medium sized vehicles, dodges, Blitzes, GMCs, Studebakers and larger vehicles.

Line up at Corowa Airport
• Tracked vehicles: will be parked at the outer side of the field alongside the Jeeps.
• Front row: Willys MAs and Ford Pygmys flanked by Willys slat bar grills.
• Second row: Special Purpose bodies (White Label)
• Next Rows: Standard Ford and Willys Jeeps
• Final Row of Jeeps will be the Modified Jeeps
• Motorcycles will flank either side of the front row of Jeeps.
• Staff Cars, Landrovers, medium sized vehicles, dodges, Blitzes, GMCs Studebakers and larger vehicles will be in the rear of the photo shoot.

Other Important Information
Please make sure you read all the information in your pack ASAP. There is also a list of Important Information contained inside your pack.
• If you have preregistered, your vehicle certificate will be in your pack. Check to make sure it is correct. If any mistakes return the certificate to the Site Office and put a note on explaining what information needs correcting. It is your responsibility to come back the following day and collect the new certificate.
• We require volunteers to assist with the parade on Saturday. We plan to categorise the vehicles and will require a person to be in charge of each group. Place your name on the list provided at the Site Office. To make this easier please leave your mobile number.
• The parade will depart from the parking area near Bangerang Park (Near the Bowling Club not near the entrance to Ball Park Caravan Park). Tracked vehicles will line up in Edwards St.
• Our Site Office is manned by volunteers. Your cooperation with completing the required forms and information would be greatly appreciated.
• If you see a vehicle without a number please ask the person to register in at the Site Office.

Hi all,

I now have 243 pre-registered participants. Thirteen forms were in the mail today.

It doesn't look like we will have any MLU memorabilia as I haven't heard back from Geoff. I sent an email and a private message.

There will be CMPs there amongst the Jeeps - what Welsh singer could resist that wonderful lure? I hope you offered him a ride in one. I can just see it now - Tom Jones travelling around Ball Park standing in the hatch of a blitz singing his lungs out!

Default Corowa dinner

Hi All,

I am looking at organizing a Dinner at (a) Pub Friday night in Town (Details to be advised).

(Plan A)
7:00pm sit-down, staggering distance from Ball caravan park.

PM Me directly if you are interested NO LATER THAN MARCH 5. I will get the menu tomorrow & put it up on here too. That way you fussy people can get to know what you can & cant have.

I am aware some like to camp at the aerodrome, but it would be nice to see people & have a nice dinner chat before the parade on Saturday

There will be no organized dinner on Saturday night by KVE before the auction & presentation, so this might be your only chance to say hello.

Default transport required

Jan can not log on to MLU at the moment, and has asked me to post this, one of the many requests that she receives regarding Corowa.

In my role as Secretary I always a few different requests. This is the latest.
Can anyone help???

I don't know if you can help with this request but here goes!

I have acquired an unregistered trailer that needs to get from just outside Brisbane to Sydney. If you hear of anyone organising transport for Corowa that could do a drop off in Sydney for a share of the petrol costs could you please let me know.

Kind regards

Default Imitation Firearms Storage Arranged for Corowa.

NSW Police Firearms Registry have given the go ahead for permits to be issued for those persons who apply for permits to display Imitation Firearms on their
Ex-Military vehicle during the Corowa 2010 "Year of the Jeep".

Secure storage is to be at the Corowa Airport and I as President of KVE Inc. will be the key holder. There will be a book in - book out system.

If you are still to put in your application for Permit to Display an Imitation Firearm at Corowa, Please list the storage as 'Secure Storage at Corowa Airport.'

Sometimes we can move mountains.
Regards Rick.

The official tally of vehicles now stands at 232 vehicles with 161 of these being Jeeps.

The pre-registration period closes on Sunday 28th February however I will still accept forms up until Friday 5th March. Make sure you get your form and the money to me this week.

We are still waiting on the reply from Sir Tom Jones and David Campbell. The previous manager of Ball Park Caravan park is now assisting us with this request.

Today I received anther 12 pre-registered entry forms bringing the total at the moment to 285.

The Corowa RSL has double booked for Lang's talk on Thursday 11th March so we will be having the talk at the Jump Shak which is at Corowa Airport. Plan to be there around 6pm and if possible bring a chair. If you are interested in a meal at the Jump Shak they will be doing a Gourmet BBQ. It will cost $15 for adults and $7.50 for children under the age of 10 years. You will need to put your names down on the list so they can correctly cater for the evening. There will be a list at the Site Office and one at the Airport. Make sure you put your name down on one of the lists or contact Tabitha prior to this night.

Everything else is going as planned. With the large numbers of people the site office will be open longer hours. on Monday and Tuesday the hours will be 8.30-11am followed by 3-6pm. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday it will be open from 8.30-6pm. Make sure you come down and sign in as soon as you arrive in Corowa. There will be a number of things for sale including stickers, badges, calendars, caps, and Keith Webb's DVD's. Your participant packs contain some very valuable information and momentoes.

If anyone is planning to arrive on Sunday 7th March and would like to be included in the Carvery dinner at the Corowa RSL please let me know by Wednesday 3rd March.
