Default Any images of captured US Halftracks in German markings.

Currently have a project to dress a White M3 halftrack as if captured and used by the Wehrmacht for use by reenactors.

Does anyone have any decent images of such vehicles including their new markings and types of weapons mounted. Including captured US MG and re-mounted German MG types.

I have done a Google Image search and come across a number of images from North Africa, (http://beutepanzer.ru/Beutepanzer/us...lftrack-03.htm) but would be interested in others, particularly if the machine guns were mounted with armour shields similar to the Sd. Kfz. 2** series APCs.

A quick first pass came up with this one captured in Tunisia and mounting a 75mm German gun.

The reenactors do US 101 Airborne so the markings for them should be post D Day '44, however some of them wear 1st Armoured insignia which puts them in the Torch operations (in olive paint) against the Afrika Corps. The Zondap sidecar used by the Wehrmacht reenactors is in the desert sand colour so again Afrika Corps would be appropriate for captured US equipment. Although the uniforms are mostly the grey of European operations.

Being pragmatic while the reenactors are careful about the originality of their personal uniform and kit, how many of the audience would take exception to mock battle between formations that never actually opposed each other?

I assume we are looking at an american 75mm Pack Howitzer rather than a German Gun?

My apologies Neil.

I took the photo off of a Russian site in a hurry and the translation indicated a German weapon.

Further research shows two sites in English regarding that battle that describe the weapon as an American one.

Sorry.............
