Default Reconstructions

Filmed reconstructions have been popular for decades and are sadly now the main element of most TV documentaries and unfortunately this form of entertainment appears to have now permeated mainstream museum exhibits.

Given all the reference resources available for this type of reconstruction work, both in libraries and on-line, and the fact that there are only half-a-dozen actors being dressed, you would think that the uniforms would at least be correct.

As well, it looks like everything was cobbled together from the last dregs of some TV or movie costume house. I can only surmise that no-one knew that there are now a number of companies which can supply pretty good reproduction uniforms and equipment for this type of work.
