Default Piat question

Hi everyone

Can anyone tell me what the rules/laws are for bringing a Piat into the country. Are they recognized as a firearm in Canada?

Any help is much appreciated.

Default Hey Jordan

It will probably be seized. If the customs guys recognize it. Its a chance you'd take I have briught back depth charges, 100lb practise bombs etc and had no problems mostly because they didn't ask about it only booze and cigarettes. I saw an article recently where one was taken by police in the states and declared a WMD. and the collector charged. but thats ATF rules here in Canada its called a NON GUN therfore no problem. But its the border guys that would hold it up.

cheers
Adam

Probably like smoke dischargers/grenade launchers. Legal for anyone to own here but illegal to import unless you have non-profit/museum status. Don't ask me why.

Jordan, get a professional opinion before you try... otherwise you could be out a lot of money and maybe into a lot of legal hassle.

the PIAT is NOT a gun down here acording to the ATF. it was taken off the title 1 list after they could not find any ammo anyplace in the world. the one that was "captured" by the cops down here from a MC gang was shown and is on utube someplace. it shows a cop showing how it could blow up a cop car, if thay had ammo. its stupid but its post 911. they had a gun grab in chicago a while back where if you turned in a gun you got 200. well the people went and got all the blank fireing .45s (FOR 85.00 EA)and empty artillery and tow tubes they could get and made it rich.
