What sort of size was that bomb, Tony? Just to give us some idea.

Hello Lynn.

Apparently, the News reports stated it was a 2,000lb bomb, referred to as a ‘Herman Bomb’. It may have been of a shallow detonation design to maximize its blast effect. This one clearly burrowed in for some reason which likely enhanced the disposal teams reluctance to risk moving it.

One of my Wife’s Uncles retired a few years ago from a Canadian Forces Disposal Team. Stressful work when dealing with really old ordnance.
