Hi

Carrying on with tradition, the town of Sussex New Brunswick raised the flag of the Dutch Municipality of Tynerloo on 5 May.

Tynerloo contains the village of Eelde where the 8th Princess Louise's (New Brunswick) Hussars spent the post-war months prior to repatriation. A strong bond was established between the Regiment and the Community that lasts today. We have an Eelde Flag presented in 1945 in our Museum as well as a Gold Ring presented after the war.

The current 8th Canadian Hussars has a sub-unit as well as a long History in Sussex. The two municipal entities are "twinned" an few years ago, with the Regiment being their bond, and yearlyeach raises the others flag, above the 8th Hussars flag. They fly at their town halls for a week. On hand this year were the HLtCol, HCol, Mayor, MLA, CO, and RSM with a small contingent of Hussars. Health protocols were observed.

I haven't seen the pics from Tynerloo yet but here are a couple from Sussex.

regards
Darrell

Great tradition!

PS: I guess you are referring to Tynaarlo (Dutch names and spelling can be confusing)
