Default WS No 9?

Where do I get a WS9 radio set - forerunner of the WS52?

Am looking to fit out an M3A1 White Scout Car as Phantom signals unit for Normandy 1944 and considering this wireless fit out.

Cheers

Tim

You're probably looking for a W/T 9 Mk.1 (first pic). It's a circa 1943 Canadian improvement over the British or Canadian No.9 that was obsolete in 1941 (Canadian version, circa 1941 in second pic). Yes, it's is the predecessor of the W/T 52 (third pic). Actually, the 52 was going to be called the No.9 Mk.2 but it was deemed too different.

Yup - Wireless No 9 Mk1 is the one I need to find - thanks for the photos to clarify.

If anyone has one for sale, please let me know.

Have a few WW2 wireless items I can consider for exchange or Px as well.

Cheers

Hi Tim,

as fare is I know phantom switch to WS52 and 22set way before Normandy.
Will make your live little easier because 9set are in possible to find, WS52 are very rare beasts too but you can find them.

Regards

Peter

It's just unfortunate that my collecting interest has fallen towards the hard to find items!

As well as Phantom, also considered ASSU... but then that requires some hard to find RAF stuff!

If you turn up anything for the WS9 preferrably please drop me a line - if you get any WS52 stuff, then also prepared to consider it.

Whilst I already have one WS22... another one wouldnt hurt - if you get anything at a sensible price.

Good to see your auction site is growing.

Cheers

Tim

Yes auction site is growing well slowly but steadily. Everybody come http://www.milmarket.org and have a look, sell and buy your military items at no cost to buyer or seller.

Peter might also have a cover for your WS9. I purchased one thinking it was for the WS19 Bren Carrier install.
But it appears to almost fit my WS52, it is a bit short if the aerial tuning unit is mounted on the end, perhaps it is for the No.9?
