Default It's Question of Wheels...

I've got a couple of free road wheels and on close inspection the rubber is delaminating on one and the bearing is siezed on the other.
You tend to see wheels for around £25-50 each on ebay, but even then the rubber and / or bearings could be shot. What's the rough cost of refurbishing a wheel with new rubber and a set of bearings?
IIRC Richie's re-rubbering was over £50 per wheel and the wheel bearings are an odd size, meaning they cost £50+ per wheel, is that correct, thus what do we reckon the all in cost of turning a rough US wheel into a new one would be? I've got my eye on a set of eight NOS wheels for the Loyd anyway but I wanted to weigh up the costs....

Ah ha Alastair,

I recognise you from HMVF.

We have had all 40 roadwheels on our BV 206 re rubbered at a cost of $100 per wheel.

Now I have a mate who is doing them in polyurethane for $38 each.

you can get around the bearing issue by making a sleeve then the price of bearings goes from circa £60 / bearing down to £4.00 per bearing.....
