Default Project: wartime passenger-car production & sales

Hello, all:

I'm new to posting here, but not new to reading the threads. I should have signed up long ago. There are several names I'm familiar with, as some folks I've corresponded with in the past: Mike Kelly, David Hayward, Hanno Spoelstra. Nice to see you all here! Mike sent me a CD on Holden wartime production, and I believe I sent him my Morris data sheet.

I've been researching production data (or any data, for that matter) for passenger-cars built and/or sold the world over during World War 2 (with mild overlaps at either end), whether for civilian or military/government use. I've been quite successful with my research, and have put together a few data sheets. For example, I have detailed quarterly Rootes (Humber, Hillman, etc.) figures for the Dec. 1942 through Nov. 1944 period, and totals going back to 1939. This comes from painstaking research done at Coventry Museum of Transport from a hand-written ledger! I also have Ford delivery figures for the 1940-1948 period, for many countries. I have data on most makes.

Is anyone interested in this stuff? I see Bill Murray had created a popular thread on passenger cars, and he stated he has similar interests.

Thanks,

Bill K.

Default Howdy and Welcome

Hi Bill:

Sent you an email regarding my own interests and I hope you can contribute more to the lesser known vehicles that kept the whole machinery moving.

Bill

Default Figures

Vauxhalls built 2,548 cars for the Ministry of Supply..there was some 1940 production for overseas as you know (for Australia and possibly NZ). I may have the figures for Austin/Morris/Wolseley somewhere..Gaydon certainly do by plant.

Sent you an email, David. I trust it's the same as when we last corresponded.
