Default Dennis lorry

The old Dennis lorry we have has been finally moved to the work shop to start work on it again. The engine that is in the dennis is a white and poppe which is the original. I know it's a long shot but would anyone know of any of these engines as we are missing a few parts, which include the fan, fan mount, water pump plus many other small bits.
will try and post photos latter
By the way the engine is free, we have one set of cylinders off for cleaning and at the moment we are trying to free the clutch

Default Dennis

Sort of makes a blitz look ultra modern doesn't it?

Good luck with the parts, must call in next trip.

Max,

Do a search on HMVF site. Some blokes did a resto on a Dennis a while back and made quite a few of their own parts.

Cliff its 1923 and a7ton model from what we fond out
I did see one at Swan Hill or Echuca that had a engine much the same and took some photos just can't find them yet.
A another fellow built the cab for us a few years back which was a big help.
We also have a 1914 chassie that has some parts which we can use
Steve who comes out and helps with repairs on the farm is doing all the work at the moment and can't keep his hand off this old girl.

Keith... yeah it sure does

Max

Hi Max,
I think it was 2001 when you took me to the shed to see your Dennis, good to see progress now. As Jack has just posted, a family in Devon, England rebuilt a WW1 Dennis and fully documented it over a long period on HMVF forum. Here is the link, not sure if you will see the pictures if not a forum member, but worth signing up and they would love to get in touch with a fellow owner I am sure.

best regards,

here's a couple of photos one of the engine with half the engine removed showing the cam shaft drive gears and another looking at the back of the truck, then also one of the blitzs out of the tunnel when we got them all out to put the dennis in the shed.

Hi Max - wonderful Dennis - I have two of rhe Dennis 250 fire engines - 1928 side valve and a '33 OHV. But at the first big truck show at Penrith about four or five years ago - was an unrestored Dennis - your model with the White and Poppe engine - and I took a photo of it - archived somewhere. From memory it had an explanation board with it and possibly a name... see if I can find it...
