Default Loyal Edmonton Regiment

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum. I have been researching family genealogy and had an uncle that was in WW2. He was killed at Ortona, on Dec. 23rd 1943. His name was Peter Versailles and he served with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment.. He came from Alberta. I have been trying to find photos of this regiment, but have had no luck. I was wondering if anyone else had a family member serve in this regiment? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou,
Grannyboots

Welcome to the MLU forum. I am new here as well and cant understand most of what these 'rivitheads' are babbling about LOL. I did a quich google search for images and came up with a few. A more deatiled serach of the sites etc should uncover many more. As far as I know the Eddies are still active, although as a militia unit.

Google 'Edmonton Regiment'

Hello,

Hi Eileen;

In regards to your Uncle, I don't know if you have seen these or not:

- from The Books of Remembrance - (All the books are kept in the Memorial Chamber located in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill) page 223, located here your Uncle is recorded in the left hand column, seventh from the top.

- from Veterans Affairs Canada, located here

- from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, located here

Hi Mark,

Thank you for this information. I have seen the Book of Remembrance and the one from veterans Affairs. I have not seen the one from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Thanks again,
Eileen
