Default 2018 New Years Challenge

Hi All

With New Years Eve rapidly approaching thought it was time to issue the Challenge who will be the take out their CMP or Carrier or other Military Vehicle to Celebrate the New Year. The Challenge comes in several forms you pick what is best for you:
  • Who will be the first, in the sense of earth rotation
  • Who will be the earliest in their time zone
  • How many CMPs can we wake from their winter hibernation to stick their distinctive noses out on New Years
  • Who has the coldest/warmest Temperature
Given that parts of the world are going to see extreme cold this New Years, don't risk your health or the health of your vehicle, do whats logical. Or simply take your first MV drive a little later.

While your at it take some photos of your Odometer maybe next year we can include who has driven the most miles in 2018.

For me my target is to drive each one of my trucks at least once each month. Gotten to the point where I drive the CMPs for fun and the regular cars just to get where I'm going. You meet some interesting people when you take HUP to get the Sunday paper, or the Pattern 12 C60L to the lumber yard.

Best Wishes for a Happy New Years

Cheers Phil

Default It's so cold......

The government wimps have cancelled the live entertainment New Years Eve...... everyone interviewed by the TV stations make fun of the cancellations by saying we are suppose to be Canadians accustomed to the cold.

Yet they played a 3 hour outside hockey game in Buffalo.... 3 hours near minus 20 C and Canada lost.

Spent the last hour on the tractor and froze my fingers....gloves are no good in this weather you need mitts.

That said I will live up to the challenge.....forecast is minus 27 C New Years eve and minus 30C for New Years night.

Will take out the battery for a warm up on Sunday morning although I may need a hammer to open up the sea can doors.

Snow is slightly over q foot and very fluffy with no ice crust so plowing in the back field with the belly dragging should not be a problem......just need a volunteer to take the pictures......

Cheers

Well, it is 0700 on the last day of the year in Brisbane.

Just drove the GPW to the shops. It is a bit overcast. Temperature is currently 26C predicted to be 30C then falling to 25C at midnight.

I thought of you northerners yesterday while we were water skiing on Sommerset Dam with the kids.

Default BEAST started on New Years Day 2013

Hi All

Well BEAST started this morning, I waited till about 10AM, with temperatures up from -8F/-22C over night and windchill that was just plain ridiculous. Inside BEAST's winter den it was 10 F the recording thermometer said it had't been any warmer or colder since I drove it last.

Video is a little longer than necessary but the batteries on both cameras died before the ride was over.

So I hope this is the start of a good CMP driving year.

Cheers and Best Wishes

Best Wishes for the new year, Phil!

I really like your initiative of the new years Challenge and really enjoyed the video. I will try to do my part for a next new Years challenge when my project is done.

I planned on taking the jeep for a spin today. But it didn't happen. 2017 ended with a house fire and 2018 started with two.
