Hi , I am looking for a water pump for my 216 Chevrolet engine , Has anyone rebuilt an old one because that may be the way to go
What i need desperately is a new water pump as mine has got a lot of play in it , Can the old one be rebuilt i have never had a lot to do with pumps ,

Paul, Your pump can be rebuilt. Often a kit can be had but I have found it is better to have a professional company do it. Most auto parts suppliers have a connection to send pumps to for rebuilding. Or you could deal directly with someone like;

Thanks for the information Jack , I have just sent a message to Holmans to see what they say but thanks again for your help , I will not be online now until Monday Evening as i am at a local show , Paul.

Default Which water pump?

Hi Paul

Do you know for sure if you have the single back outlet to the block, or the two hole version(post war version later).

It is still listed in the US NAPA system I just checked and they have 78 of them left in the system.

Unfortunately this later style is not interchangeable with the early style.

RockAuto.com has the early style listed.

Good work Phil!
I will add that Rock auto will send over seas and probably Napa will. I have had good results with Rock auto, (thanks Rob!, for the heads up) In the form of two wheel cylinders, and then later, two master cylinders.
It was all pretty much automated with total price including freight shown, before I made the final purchase.
