Default pic

thanks Hanno

Unusual reg plate must be a Indian army thing ! What became of all of these captured vehicles , it seems virtually none of them survived the Japanese ownership ? Must have been a few thousand British/Indian/Australian vehicles in Malaya . Who took these pics? Must have been somebody with a interest in soft skin miltary vehicles .

Hi Mike,
It looks like a Morris Commercial CS8. There is a British census number at top left hand of tailboard, prefix Z, but it appears to be within a group of un-allocated numbers.

Hello Mike.

You pose an interesting question about the fate of British transport in Malaya. I have often wondered the same thing about the Canadian compliment of CMP’s and Universal Carriers lost in the Philippines.

I see the RUBBOLITE tailights on the CS8, somebody in the UK had some of those reproduced recently but the cost was horrendous, they are also seen on other WW2 era British vehicles. The guys seen with the F15 would have been dock workers.
