Can any of you experts out there help me? Name country or army that may have used these artifacts that my uncle gave me right after the second world war. I would appreciate any help. Dates on bayonets are 1876 and 1877.

Hi Norm,
I can't identify the badge, but the bayonets are French, from the St Ettienne armoury. They were used on the m1874 Gras rifle, a metallic cartdridge conversion from the needle-fire Chassepot of 1866. Dave

French Bayonets...

Those are French bayonets.. M74 Gras ..First and widely copied of the "T" back bayonets... Nice stuff... The cross rifles....???? Look here and scroll down to the bottom... http://oldrifles.com/fre-bay.htm

Hi Alex:
I want to thank you for giving me a good sight to identify my bayonets. It gave me the history that I was looking for. At the age of 83 I am always amazed at the fast and immediate communication that the internet provides. It becomes like a world family.
