Default c42 fender bracket

Hello

I am looking for the bolt hole measurements for the C42 radio antenna tuning box fender bracket.

There was one for sale at the 2019 Fall OMVA show.

If the holes match my M151a2 fender holes, then this might be the item I am looking for.

Thanks
Eric

Hi Eric. If this is the same as what you are looking for, the bolt hole dimensions are 6-1/2” x 9-1/2”.

Hello Wayne

Thank you

It certainly looks like the one on the CFTO.

Pretty close to one set of holes I have, which are 6.5 x 10.

Could I bother you for the other measurements please, width height etc.

Now I have to see if it would fit with the mirror in place.

Thanks
Eric

I think that you will find that those mirrors with the pair of braces will vibrate so bad as to render them useless, as well as cause cracks in the fender at the mounting points. We used to mount a third brace to stop the vibration.

The bracket that Wayne has came form my favorite scrapyard. Lots more out there, although I thought they were for the 3/4 ton.

I measure the hole pattern as 6.5" x 9.5". Overall height 8.5". Maximum outside dimensions: 8" x 10-3/8". The lower lips are angled slightly to accommodate the curved Dodge fender but could easily be made to lie on a flat jeep fender. The open side allows access for threading on the big retaining nut that fastens the antenna tuning unit.

Hi Eric. Per Rob's comments, the bracket has angled mounting points for the 3/4 ton where it fits the arch of the front fender. Even if those were fattened out, the center to center hole dimension wouldn't change noticeably from the 9-1/2" dimension mentioned previously.

See photos; the overall height is 8-3/4", and the flat top dimensions are 5-1/2" x 8".

UPDATE - After rechecking, I agree with Brian's hole dimension of 6-1/2", and after removing the old bolt, my height measurement is closer to 8-5/8", but that could be the difference on how much the lower tabs are angled vs Brian's. Assuming Brian has a NOS example, his measurements are probably more correct.

Default measurements received thanks

Hello

Thank you to Brian and Wayne for your measurements.

This is indeed the M37 Fender mount which is also part of the National Survival kit.

It was also intended to be used on other vehicles, when the National Survival kit was used.

Rob, so far no mirror shake. As there is a radio antenna bracket located on the fender there is a re-enforcement plate on top and bottom. I added a bottom plate to the passenger side as well.

I made up a paper mock-up of the C42 bracket at it seems to fit nicely other than the mirror arm needing some adjustment.

If I go this route I know who to look for.

I wonder if this should be move to the restoration page now?

Thanks
Eric

Default wanted, AMU fender bracket

I guess while on the topic of fender antenna brackets. I am looking for the AMU style bracket, which was used on the M38A1.

This style also appears to fit on my fender and is a little smaller. I made one up based on drawings and hole measurements on Jason Ginn's M38A1.

Thanks
Eric
