Default Gunner's going up?

I heard a very pleasant rumour that our very own 'Gunner' is soon to be promoted to Field Rank. Congrats and Well Deserved Mike.
here he is trying to placate a Waffen SS Sr. NCO who won't accept the fact that he either becomes a Kriegsgefanger or he will soon be tot

Default Wet and Willy all in one

Alex, I will coord the meeting once we get Bill's schedule, and reconcile it with Mike's availability. Incriminating photos will be taken for future postings...Line up the "special guest" once the schedule is firmed up...

Mike, Global warming must be a reality - Hell hath not frozen over as was expected. Time to take the sunglasses off your $20.00s...

Bob, you coord the entertainment - tattoos are de rigueur at Grace O'Malley, we expect more of the same, and better...

Clive, I suggest we stay away from the "shooters"...nudge, nudge, wink, wink...bring books (small print for the beginning of the meeting, large print with plastic covers for the later portion)...

Other local enthusiast - you are invited! We need to know that there are other crazed iron oxide junkies out there...

The stickler that I am for authenticity forces me to ask the question....are there hobnails on his sandals?

Thumbs up Safety Sandals

Aaaarrrgghh!

Hoisted on my own petard!

Those who hang at the S&P Rusty Junk Yard will recognise my safety sandals, sans hobnails!

Working on the principle that max exposure to injury results in max care of the tootsies, I am seldom seen from May to Oct in anything else as I hate boots! Funny, the army has issued me some 34.5 pair over the years!

Carrying the "Instructor-in-Gunnery (hence the red band around the service cap) rear echelon fatso wallah sent forward to pester the boys at the front in Italy" bit to its most ludicrous extreme means wearing nice cool sandals made by a local sandalatadoria in Sicilia. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks for all the kind wishes. I will happily present myself at a west end or south end pub for suitable libations (hey, if I'm buyin' I get to pick the venue )

As Rob C noted, hell has indeed frozen over... it is an Rear Admiral who will present the promotion to this 'died' in the wool army guy tomorrow! I can actually afford the beer as it is backdated to 21 July!

For planning purposes I dep on duty on 16 Oct and won't be back until after Christmas. I'll be teaching african military officers tactics in the snow in Nova Scotia to get ready for a stint of similar duty in Africa next year (only in Canada! ). Anyway, I'll still be online as it were, so youse ain't got rid of me yet!:dh:

Cheers! Major Mike (no, I don't have my eye on an island in the Indian Ocean... )

A shame, Mad Major Sir! We could have renamed it Canuckistan and created our very own off-shore, tax-free haven for burnt-out MLUers!

Well, congrats anyway!

Default Islands and Kneecaps

Greetings Oh Web Master and Yappy:

Thank you both for the kind sentiments!

Did I mention in my last post that the Caribbean is much closer!

I'd rename the island, "Lakanookie" and install myself as King "Komon-a-wanalaya"!

As to my kneecaps... I'm a good Irish lad... bullet proof kneecaps made of magneto and titanium (with no apologies to Sir Paul and Wings!)

Cheers! Mike

You're welcome You deserve/earned it

Regards your grandiose megalomaniacal delusions, they have pills and talk therapy for that you know? ...., and as for the knees, they well may be bullet-proof, but they are NOT Ma proof!!!

Default Polynesian Kings' Names

Perhaps I should channel the spirit of King Camon-a-won-a-peeonya!

Offer is still open for libations at a west or south end pub... what RHC is referring to is a round at the Swan on Rideau (fine Brit pub) for the staff of the local and very fine cadet corps: 1st Anti-Tank Regiment, RCA (2958 RCACC). I had the honour and pleasure of reviewing their handover ceremony for the Cadet Battery Commander last night.

Cheers! Mike

Er, Alex? Dinja mean to use the letter "i"?

Maj Mike - Excellent ceremony last night. They grow up so quickly...

For the other Ottawa ROTers, Jim Mackie will be in town sometime this month - hopefully at the same time that Wild Willy darkens our fair doorstep. I will be visiting a resort for all of next week, so if they show up next week, I am sure Alex and Bob will take care of them.

Hey! I am a member of the MLU Century Club - analysis to follow.
