Will a rear seat fit in this 42 GPW?
It has a fuel tank in the rear, would a seat fit in between the front seats and the fuel tank? Just want to install a small seat for the kids.

Hi Nelson,
Short answer, yes i think an original spec rear seat would fit- might not be any leg room for them though which would not be too comfy. You'd need to make up a few brackets for it though. Unless you need the extra fuel on board, i would urge you to consider removing that tank/or replacing the rear fuel tank with the original under seat one if its not there. That way you could fit an original spec rear seat and the kids would have heaps of leg room, plus it would be one step to taking your jeep back to original spec. If you really want more liquid storage, either fit up the jerry can bracket and put one on, or i have seen small tanks made up to go in the V of the reinforcing of the chassis for the pintle hook under the rear floor. Or, do both! If your not fussed about original parts, good repros are available of all these parts if you hunt around- Ron Fitzpatrick jeep Parts (guy who runs g503.com) would be a good start. Cheers, Ian.
