Default Another trip

But this time I don't expect to see any CMPs.

Sunday morning my time I depart Melbourne for L.A. and Charlotte N.C. I'll be there a week, including a drive to Charleston, filming for a corporate DVD. Thanks to the magic of travel, I depart 10.30 AM Sunday and arrive in Charlotte the same day around 6 in the evening local. Makes my head spin. I know it's about 14 hours to LA from Melbourne.

Then it's back to L.A. and on to meet up with Belinda (wife) in Fiji for a bit of a cruise around the islands and some quality R&R before heading home some 3 weeks after I depart.

I hope you're good at penetrating sophisticated defenses... Razor wire, mines, angry snakes, redbacks, vicious dogs, camouflaged pits with sharpened stakes, flamethrowers, poison gas and a powerful force field will take care of the assets while I'm away. Then there is the constant overhead patrols with Bird Dogs armed with Willy Petes to mark you... followed up by a squadron of A37s with miniguns and napalm. Then there is the team of SAS armed to the teeth on guard. I'll also rig high voltage protection to not only the vehicles but any parts... so beware!

It's only fair that ALL members of the family have a holiday. If we work out a roster of Driver's, the FGT could do a lap of the country in 3 weeks.

Keith,

As I said on the phone have a good trip.

It occurred to me that I might use the MLU mob to help with my trip as well.

I am leaving Brisbane on Monday morning for UK. Will be there about a week before going to Halifax Nova Scotia to pick up an old Beech 18 aircraft to fly across the Atlantic to UK. Bev and I will be in UK until early September looking after the plane and going to various events around Europe.

My mission this coming week is to find a hangar for the aircraft, preferably west or south of London, on a permanent basis. Do any of you Poms know of or have a contact for a hole in a hangar on one of the numerous west and south airfields. Cost is not a problem and the owner will happily pay whatever the going rate is.

We will have plenty of time off and should get to meet up with lots of you at various military vehicle meets during the summer. We will find somewhere to live in the area the aircraft finishes up.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Lang

Keith: You'll probably cross paths with my perambulations in North Carolina.

In 2002, I spent 3 weeks there...military stuff, so I won't bore you with details.

However, if you're going to Charlotte, perhaps you'll find yourself near Raleigh-Durham Airport. Maybe you'll find yourself out by Ashville.

There's a ring road near the capital city. Close to there is a suburb known as Cary.

The locals identify that suburb as "City Awash with Re-located Yankees".

Don't forget that North Carolina is a southern state!!!

You might also run across a local plant known as kudzu. It'll be interesting to read your reaction to this green thingy...(you will see it).

Have a good time in Fiji, and say hello to Gauguin for me. Don't forget to bring Tim Tams to trade with the natives!.

Regards

Yes, I've been warned about that... I'm also practicing adding 'Y'all' to the end of most sentences.

Looking forward to the grits and other culinary delights.

Am in the airport lounge in Melbourne waiting to board the 14 hour flight to LA.

Don't worry I have the rotor buttons with me.

Also have a squad of mad Kiwis to deal with any rogue sheep sent from Yass.

OK, I get your point. Perhaps the convertible may not be the most appropriate mode of transport.

Maybe I'll borrow the carrier from the museum for sightseeing.

Greetings from Charlotte. They have mostly been old boliers so far, especially the ones on US Air.

Interestingly (for me) there was an airborne marshall in uniform on board the flight form LAX to Charlotte.

You fell for what you thought was the only serious lead in this whole thread.

Some other truths: Charleston is a dance for flappers, and Charlotte is NOT the Air Hostess's name!
