Default Radiator shroud and front section take outs.

Hi again..still eager to learn some more about my CMP

I have large round holes in my radiator shroud and in the grill section on my front section. One on each side.

The holes in the front section looks not factory done...but the ones in the radiator shroud / brackets looks original.

I dont believe the holes correnspond when parts are mounted.

What could it be for? Holes for coolant hoses for the arctic kit? My truck has a full arctic kit mounted but the hoses were routed over the radiator under the bonnet.

What do you guys think og know??

Svenn

ps: Radiator is mounted the wrong way aroud for storage.

Default Radiator bracket....

The radiator bracket is original. We commonly refer to it has the horse collar.

That part was derived from existing civilian Chev parts.... originally it was a one piece rounded corner device to held the civilian radiator. The top part was cut off when they designed the CMP...... you will find a similar piece on a 1942 Chev truck and it will be complete.

The holes in the nose sheet metal may have been for heater hoses.....???

Default Ooops...... made a missteak!!!!

I have pictures of a 1940 Chevrolet nose and the "horse collar" does not go above the radiator as I had remembered.

The civilian part was the origin of the cmp radiator support U shape bracket.
For CMP purposes it was a regular part that was trimmed to fit the CMP design. The hole in the CMP part is what is left of the hole that allowed electrical cables to gain access to the side mounted headlights on the civilian model.

Hoping the pics attached will illustrate the above.

Thanks Bob for sharing this information about the CMPs history. Another mystery solved

The other two holes in the front section must be for the arctic kit. They correnspond nice with the location of the heaters.

I will take some pics and post of the arctic kit I have on mine soon.
