Default An Interesting Accident

This is apparently an Australian event but I have no idea if that relates to the location, the vehicle or the aircraft.

Default Clearly driving on the wrong side of the road........

....if the car had been in the proper right lane he would have slide under the wing.......

It could be a matter of location Bob....this is Australia where they still drive on the left? In which case, it may be the aircraft whom is at fault.

Rob, You must have had exposure to pilots during your military time... "I once thought I made a mistake, then I realized I was wrong...."

Possibly the car's driver was blinded by the airplane's landing light (as the pilot flew along minding his own business, trying to scare the everloving ___ out of innocent motoists).

What I find odd is the props do not appear to be as bent back as one would expect from a wheels up landing.

Hello David,

Apparently there was more than one Mosquito that 'interacted' with a car. Please see https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/166153 accessed 19th of December 2022. Also, https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/163789

Kind regards
Lionel

If the propellors were stationary (engines not running) only the blades facing downward would be bent (metal blades) or broken (wooden blades). No engine power would also require the crew to manually pump the gear down.

Is there not something about timing the propellers so they are in that shown position when the engines are shut off ? Engines usually stop in the same place, and it minimizes damage in the event of a landing gear malfunction, or wayward autos.

When I was posted in Moosejaw, which was the jet engine training base, there was a. Joke: What do student pilots use for birth control?

Answer: Their personalities.
