Default uptons of Corowa

Corowa newbies may not be aware of the Uptons yard ,formerly on the outskirts of Corowa . They had a graveyard of LVT's in various states of completeness. I recall they were the turreted version . Back in 94, they wanted 6k $ for the most complete one . Fading US markings were still evident on them. They had a V 12 PT boat engine too . Hall Scott I think.

Default Great Photo

Loading pictures are great, can see the problem of getting the vehicle centered on the low bed.

One question the pictures came through as very large how did you post something wider than 700 pixels?

It will be interesting to see if the TV series makes it to the US keep us posted on developements.

Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,

He didn't upload the pics, he linked to them from another site. Later on when I have time I'll resize them and upload copies easier to look at within the framework of the forum.

Default The Pacific TV series

The series that the beautiful LVT restoration will be a part of is another HBO series done by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. It's the companion to "Band of Brothers" and as far as I can gather is going to follow the stories of three marines fighting in various campaigns across the Pacific. Judging by the character's names they've cast - they seem to be using Robert Leckie's "A Helmet for My Pillow" and Eugene Sledge's "With The Old Breed " as at least two of three story threads. I've read Sledge's book and I feel it's one of the best first person accounts I've read. It is gut-wrenching and has some haunting imagery. I highly recommend it and can't wait until this series is completed. The IMDB says it's in pre-production and has a 2009 completion date.
