Default Steel utility box at Princess Auto

For all Canadians (foreigners will just have to suffer):

I waited for the latest sale to take effect at Princess Auto, where I bought a 30" x 12" x 12" heavy steel sheet locking "utility box" for $35. The outsides are some imitation of diamond plate, painted black. The lid has overlapping lips. The hasp is plenty solid. The side handles are recessed. The bottom is single layer, and has 4 small holes for plug style rubber feet. S

I can see this riding on the rear wheel well of an M38A1 as secure storage for tools, rain gear, tools, oil jug, or proper wheel wrench. And if the bottom is bolted on solidly, it will reinforce the rotten steel arch.

Default Amazing they can sell it at that price....

..... at the current price of steel you would be hard press to built it for that amount in material alone .... not including the tools/equipment used ot do it.

Recycled Ford and Chev bumpers no doubt but still.......

.......although it will require the mandatory OD green coat of paint.

Default minor corrections

The hinges are just pop-riveted on. No big deal to drill and secure with something better. And, the handles are folding 1/4" rod U's. More solid than I expected. Yes, Bob it is probably cheaper than the base steel.

I am pleasantly surprised.
