Rifleman Bowlby
Just finished reading "The Recollections Of Rifleman Bowlby".
The author Alex Bowlby served in the Greenjackets and his storey is about his time in the 3rd Bat and covers a series of actions that Bowlby took part in throughout the Italian campaign. The narrative is crystal clear and gives a stunning insight into a campaign of WW11 that gets small press, at least here in the UK. Written from the rifleman's view of the world around him the book is in my opinion a 'real must read' "The Recollections of Rifleman Bowlby", first pub 1969 second edition 1999 by Cassell ISBN 0-304-35243-8 Has anyone else read it? Thanks for the heads-up on that one, Pete! Most of us are always looking for good stuff to read.
I did a search on the book at ABE Books and came up with 41 copies available at various stores in the UK, Canada, Australia, NZ and Cyprus (of all places). If anyone's interested, see this link: http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/Book...ifleman+Bowlby

New edition not at Amazon US
This thread sent off to Amazon.com to look for it. No luck with the new (1999) reprint.
