Default Fuel filler cap

A dumb question from a modeller.
Where exactly is the fuel filler cap on the universal carrier?

Cheers

Default Cap is ..

.. on the top of the fuel tank.

It serves the dual purposes of keeping the gas in, and dirt and other foreigners out.

Each of the 2 gas tanks has its own cap - secured with a bail and chain.

But seriously, the Carrier fuel tanks are on the floor, at the back of the crew/engine compartment. To access them the stowage box above the tanks is opened, and a small secret panel is revealed. A special funnel goes in the rectangular opening to concentrate the fuel in the tank, and not all over the floor.

A few months ago I posted a view of this area of my MkII* Universal Carrier, but I cannot seem to locate it now.

Let me know if you need more pix, as this machine is off for winter storage at Labour Day weekend.

Default Sorry For Offending

I apologise if my use of 'the French" offended anyone.

They are certainly very nice folks.

Default Filler

Here is the picture of the filler area.

The special funnel sits in rails and locates into the tank, and will accept an upended 2 gallon can.

When you want to fuel up, all of the stuff that was stowed in the Carrier has to come out. It does seem a bit of a pain.

Default Or!

Kevin that is of course you are after the detail for the Universal Carrier MkII* (Shame on you Stewart for not mentioning the MkI*, just you wait! That's one ammo bag less!!).

The MkI* fuel tanks are located in exactly the same position as the MkII* but on the side behind the commanders position the tank has the No.2 Cooker and Dixie mounted on it, and on the other side the tank is under the third crew members removable wood seat.

The MkIII.............
