Arron,
I am really looking forward to it!
Here are some photo's from "Bundy 07"
It is the perfect weekend to bring the family.
My kids had a ball last year riding in all kinds of MV's.
Cheers

That ride on Sam's Kenworth was a lot of fun as was the whole weekend. I had my arm out in your photo because I was videoing at the time.
Jeff I agree your kids really enjoyed themselves, including riding in the Coot and Amphicat too.
This year I'm looking forward to going swimming in the LVT, DUKW and jeep-in-a-tarp, and if things go well there might also be Weasel rides this year

I've just put Arron's latest BUNDY SWIM-IN 2009 flyer up on the MJCQ website:
http://www.mjcqinc.com/BundySwimIn2009.html

Note the Events schedule and location map is on page 2.
Click on the thumbnails to download the PDFs and print them off, or view as JPEGs if you prefer.

Aaron and Steve,
Good luck with your QLD Swim-In.
Sorry you couldn't make it to Corowa. It was a great week.
We won't be able to make yours as Jill and I will be in France for D-day +65, and later at War And Peace at Beltring UK.
Regards Rick.

Arron,
Late this afternoon Peter Greer got his fathers Victor outboard going and we took my trailer for a swim at Bunya crossing. Besides a few motor problems it went really well.
No leaks.
There is heaps of water there at the moment.
A few onlookers were scratching there heads.
We are going to give it another crack after a few motor repairs then we will be ready to race.
The no.4 Aussie trailer floats a lot better than any other trailer because they are so much lighter.
Cheers
Jeff

Hi all,

The swim-in is only 4 weeks away........ I can't wait it's going to be great. Anyway I’ve had quite a few people register but if you still haven’t told me please let me know soon.

Here are some photos from the May Day weekend to wet your appetite.

"Look no hands!" Sam Scholz testing the life jackets!

Default Bundy swim in

Here we are at Bundy, survived the weekend. We all had a great time thanks to the Walker family for their entertainment, we enjoyed the drives that were planned, and watching the vehicles going into the water and even having the odd ride. There were even interesting times when someone tried to pull his dog into his trailer in the water and he himself fell into the water, later on they were having a trailer race across a dam, the trailer was taking in water and the dog came and jumped into the trailer and the whole thing sunk to the bottom. They had a competition between the tracked vehicles to see who was best there was a M8 greyhound, LVT and a bren gun carrier, guess which one won. We flew up so we would have time to spend with our new mum, dad and uncle dry Bundy. We could get used to this weather up here. We will be flying out tomorrow all stocked up with our supplies.

Default Mr and Mrs Hedges invade Qld

The famous Yass couple invade Queensland. Both were seen in the back of a military vehicle last Sunday evening. No one was sure if it was the famous Yass duo at first as Mrs Hedges has never been caught seated in a military vehicle before today. But sure enough, their identity has been verified. Still not sure if they were on a "cross border raid" or just enjoying the Sunshine in Bundaberg.

A huge THANKS!!! to Arron, Gav, Rod, and Alan for their hospitality over the weekend. It was a terrific event and everyone had a really great time. the highlights for me were the midnight DUKW ride, the beach driving, the forest trip, the LVT ride, the LVT vs. Stuart race, the trailer race, Jeff floating his jeep in a tarp, and of course catching up with friends. I brought my little 1972 Amphicat six-wheeler in lieu of a finished Weasel (and had engine problems for most of the time).
Jeff and I paddled in the trailer race and came second, but at least we didn't sink! I was exhausted after that.

A few pics follow. Some are video frame grabs, hence the reduced quality.

Jeff floating his jeep. He reckoned it sat surprisingly level with the floor:

Using Sam's WWII Kenworth M1A1 Wrecker to lift the superstructure onto the other LVT:

Beach driving

The beautiful half-ton Dodge (WC-21 I think?) ploughing through a mud puddle on the way to the beach:

Riding in the half-Ton Dodge along the beach. What an experience, you wouldn't be dead for quids:

Some of the vehicles on the beach trip:

Weapons Carrier tyre print on sand:

Danny and Jason's WC-63, and actual Normandy veteran:

Half-ton Dodge:

A quick stop in the pine forest:

What a great weekend!!
I too must thank Arron, Rod, Gav and Alan for all the work they have done to make it so good and spending the entire weekend giving us joy rides.

A big thanks to Sam Scholtz, Phill Lloyd, Wayne Kotz and M8 Steve for carting there large vehicles there and not being afraid to show us what there machines are capable of.

Also a thanks to those who helped me float the jeep in a tarp.
I was mildly confident we could do it until Saturday night Ian Greves told us the last time the club tried it in 1974 the tarp got a cut in it, the jeep sank and had to be recovered by a Diamond T wrecker. Thanks Ian!
I am glad we did it unassisted by pumps, cranes or any modern technology.(apart from the black plastic, I was unsure how strong the old canvas was)

I am already planing the next stunt with the Jeep.
Cheers
Jeff

I would like to thank everyone for coming and bringing their vehicles for a very enjoyable event. I wish I had more time to catch up with everyone but the LVT rides kept me pretty busy. Please keep the photos coming as I didn’t have my camera with me!!!!

Jeff, I have a few more ideas too!

Grant I have been previously in military vehicles over the last 33 years so I can honestly say the novelty has worn off, some take a lot longer to get to this stage than others. Just when I thought it was safe you appear with the camera for proof. Max just lets people think I never show an interest or go with him for a ride as his memory has faded over the years and I am really camera shy, unlike some other members of this family.

Max and Kathy,

I hope you got to see some other sights in Bundy or was it just military vehicles.............

Anyway for those who may have missed Sam's amphibious landing from an LVT late Monday afternoon here are some pictures.

The LVT is semi-floating and was initially taking water once the ramp came down.

Don't worry Max has some old freinds in Hervey Bay (as he hasn't seen them for quite some time they were surprised as to how old he looked) and I made sure I got to the Bundy rum factory, Gloria directed me there and even though I don't drink the stuff I purchased 8 bottles and some other things. Hope some of the other people got to the factory as well. We should've stayed in QLD longer as the temp has been below 10 during the day since we got home. We heard a lot of good comments about you and your family over the weekend and the great entertainment you all put on. At least your nephew Jack (who made friends with Max on the DUKW) has the same thoughts as me (I swore when my chair moved during the big splash) when his uncle Gavin was driving and he told him not to do that again. Thanks again for allowing us to visit.

Default Corowa of the north

Great to hear about the event and see the vehicles. Looks like you all had a terrific time. Impressed to see the Greyhound there (a long way) but even more impressed with the pic of Kathy and Max in the Jeep! Priceless!

Now to somehow lure her into a blitz for a pic.

I know what you mean about cold Kathy, I was in Canberra on Tuesday, but apparently it even snowed here in Melbourne.

Default Unbelievable!

Hi all - I heard about it on the grapevine but when I saw the photograph I knew that the world as we know it has finished. KATHY IN A GREEN MACHINE. Max, Max, lock up the tunnels before Kathy starts roaming through them to select some vehicles for herself.

Guess I won't get a Xmas Card this year.

Bob
