Naw, he'd just peel off all the data and switch plates from their CMP's before they had a chance to get to "know" him. Lucky we're here to save them.

Default Jacket

You are all jealous. In fact on the day I was wearing that jacket, Chris and I went into a junk shop in the area. There I espied a very inexpensive Australian Army Slouch Hat that I nearly bought. But then I thought "hang on a JIF", why should I buy it as I don't know anyone who needs one or had one stolen from his head in Canada.

Tim Tam Tony - I like the LRDG idea but I don't think the trucks they drove had switch plates.

There was a guy on a stall at the War & Peace show, selling Aussie slouch hats, but again I did not think of buying one as I was presented with one by the CO of the Royal Australian Engineers when on a special detachment there some years ago.

I did not see any Canadians queing up to buy them either.

I'm not coming anywhere near the shearing shed, given Jif's suggestion about my beard...

Default Adelaide Tour with Bob

Hi Guys

Just arrived in Canberra after a 4 day tour from Melbourne to Canberra. We were 7 people on the tour, 6 girls from Uk and me! And there were 2 tourguides. So we had lots of fun together. I most enjoyed the Snowy Mountains. I even saw some snow and skilifts.

Yep, will go to Max places and give him some hints and tips on sheering sheeps in Switzerland ;-)

Bob, thanx a lot for the 2 days down in Adelaide. I really enjoyed the driving of the Chevy C15A. What an excellent birthday present. It was brilliant to meet you!

cheers
Chris

Default Bob's Jacket

G'Day mates

Still in Canberra. Visited today the excellent War Memorial. Wow, was really impressed by the Sounds & Light Show around the Lancaster-Bomber. Best museum so far I've ever been to. And I've visited many museums in Europe.

But otherwise, Canberra is quite a very, very quiet town. Nothing happens hear. Wanted to open a bank account. All banks closed today! Can't be. Hard to find Internet Cafe's and hardly no 24hour-shop. Sounds like back in Switzerland.

Bob looks very tough in his Jacket. Think he looks quite a little bit like Andrea Stavros (Anthony Quinn) in the old warmovie "Guns over Navarone" (can't remember the exact English name, the movie in the Greek sea, where they have to destroy to big guns, located in a hill).

So, tomorrow is the departure to Yass and helping Max with his sheep shearing. I think he can benefit from my Swiss shearer skills, which I've developped over the past century ;-) Hope to stay there until the the weekend with the 60 Year Commemoration "End of War in Pacific".

So far for the moment.

Cheers, mates
Chris

Andrea Stavros in "The Guns of Navarone" is a very tough guy. Bob's look cannot match him by a long shot, plus he's missing a vital piece of German equipment (no, the Unimog doesn't count)

Doesn't wearing a jacket like that near guys like Max make life dangerous ?

Default Arrived in Yass

Hi Mates

Max has just picked me up. The bloody coach driver missed to drop me off at the Yass Information Center. But Max picked me up at the station end, so I didn't have to walk with my backpackers mobile home.

Just met the family and having some tea.

cheers
Chris

Default Maple syrup

Chris, just make sure you smother EVERYTHING with Maple syrup. This will help you fit in. Using the adjective "bloody" also helps. Nice work.

Incidentally there are several other adjectives, not all polite, but I assume Salesman Bob has filled you in on them. Max is so polite and innocent I doubt he knows them.

By the way... watch out for "Lucky" - shear her gently.

Default my new obsession

Hi Keefy

Here are some action fotos. Taken this afternoon.

Here I'm pressing some bales, each about of 180 kg. So, did about 5 today, means I carried about 1 ton (ohh, my back, Emma's just giving me a massage ;-).

... look out for Max's optimized PC. Runs like a beauty!

By the way. Think, Max should open on his property an organisation like WWOOF (willing workers on organic farms). He's one could be called WWIBH (willing workers in Blitz Heaven)!

Default our new worker

Crikey Jiff this Chris is a bloody good worker. he can now shear, skirt, woolclass and press, tomorrow he's learning to muster, draft and drench. Jolly handy in the shed and a real wizz on the computer. Anymore blokes like this on your forum.

Max

PS Keefy you may need to supply us with a certificate once he passes his shedhand and jackaroo courses from the Melbourne whatever school of whatever. Blah Blah Blah.He may also need a certificate in carrier driving later on.

Max, this sounds faintly disgusting! As does the look of his smile on every pic. Best be careful, he might not want to leave, especially if you get him into carriers...

You'll have to get Emma to teach him how to box sheep. She's pretty good at that, I guess it runs in the family.

Default Drenching

Here I am drenching sheep for Max. The idea of drenching sheep is to kill the worms and other parasites in the sheep. Otherwise they'll loose the condition and could die.

Each sheep is orally given a doze of 10 ml. Up to 4 times per year. Hopefully it can skip like this:

Great shot but

Either you have the negative reversed

or

You have it on back too front

Raised side should be on your riffle shoulder

Nice to see you here, hope you are having a great time.

Regards

Hey, how come Max has made you wear the greatcoat inside? If you're cold, the traditional Aussie remedy is a comfy possie by the fire with a little bottled Queensland sun - Bundy! The Canadian chocolates are not traditional, but are a nice addition.
