Jeez...don't tell Yappy that we have to borrow protractors and topo maps and GPS devices from the Americans in order to figure out a GR. 16 figures you say? Hmmm.

Anyway, as far a recce goes, our LAV Coyotes are VOR (Vehicle Off Road) for warranty work. Only in Canada you say...pity!

Ain't it great being retired from the military and now being able to say pretty much what you want without fear of being subject to an SIU (Special Investigation Unit) probe?

Well, "tries singing/playing" is about right ... I'll have to give you that one My nephew had an electric quitar and small amp and I "tried" playing sometimes while staying there. I was hoping it would make the neighbor "hoods" move ... oh my poor hands/wrists ... leftside much worse and more useless. Frustrating. I do most things with my right hand, doors, taps, picking up ANYTHING, especially FRYING PANS!...

I practice with the frying pans and am getting a pretty good "right swing" ... SO good!

Haven't I heard somewhere about cow pies/cow chips whatever, being used as FUEL? (as in smelly kndling for fires when kindling/wood not available?)

If so ... I'm going to save my pies, instead of sending them to you, because I need HEAT here! I think I shall dig a fire-pit right in the middle of my bunker floor and toss in the cow and B/B pies. Maybe I'll roast marsh mellows too ...

We actually used them as insect repellants in the field.

Default Insect repellants????

FRANK, I guess it's too much to hope that this would repel MOSQUITOS too?... Elst they'd be selling P-U Insect Repellant instead of OFF by now? I'm covered in bites ...and Wpg has found a nasty sign of West Nile in a bird. Mosquitos are pretty unnerving these days, not just a pain.

BTW, if you're serious here, I would expect manure to attract insects rather than repel them?

Not if you burn the dried-up ones.

I'm surprised Mark didn't pick up on this cowflap thing. I'm sure he's been to Wainwright, Alberta once or twice.

Talking Frank ....

... Hmmm ... Not if you burn the dried ones.
Guess those wet ones could be OH GROSSSSSSSS as my kid would say... unlike me, she didn't spend her early (or any) years on a farm. That makes me sad because I think my kids really missed out on very important experiences, being city/town raised.

I shall just have to send my daughters some cow and B/B pies I guess

I think Mark is buried under books, papers, and whatever else is burying him at the moment ... he'll be back. Trust me on this That man AMAZES me with his immediate help and free flow of information to members. This history stuff andhelp is his labour of love me thinks. We all owe the man much ... (this does NOT get you off the frying pan hook my friend Hairy-Beast! Especially after calling me Monkey Butt!)

I am interested in hearing more of the scoop on this poop though Interesting stuff.

I'm here "Monkey Butt", but you'll have to excuse me, time for a .

P.S. Frank - never made it to Wainwright - that's the 'Army of the West' home turf and during RV 85 I was ERE with RSS Central, so I missed that one. I did do a BATUS serial (Suffield) however, in 1979, I guess the 'Pats' got tired and let us have a go at it. Funny thing was though, the Brit Armd Regt there at the time was the same one we had just spent six months with on Cyprus (9th/12th Lancers), lots of fun, but that's another story........:

Anyways, time for that

Cheers

Hey, LMY, did you catch, or understand what just went on here?

Band of Brothers indeed!

BTW, at that time, Mark was trying to figure out the Equipment Issue Scale( EIS) for an 81mm mortar and Frank was doing his damndest to manoeuvre an Iltis over uncertain terrain in Wainwright.

I, however, contained myself with administering the daily routines of the Mobile Bath and Brothel Platoon, call sign 69.
