Anyone seen this configuration for a Jeep before?

Hi Keith
If you look at the rear tailgate it seems to hinge from the top and has asliding bar at the bottom indicating a tipping device, must have been hand cranked and hard work if filled with heavy junk.
I have seen photos of civilian conversions post ww2 but not with a body that large

Default Jeep

It's definitely an army job... I have quite a few photographs of the mechanism which I'll start to put online tomorrow.

It has a hand crank to tip...

Default Tipper Jeep

Looks like it would be a useful addition to the Sapper's tool chest for narrow mountain and jungle trails.

Cheers! Mike
