Default Airshow crash

Just caught a brief news report with some footage showing a tragic mid-air crash of a pair of biplanes at a Canadian airshow - does anyone have more details? The news report was rather sketchy here.

Default Thanks, Geoff

The stats on the Waco, one of the aircraft which collided were pretty amazing.

The Waco is the lower aircraft and was fitted with additional jet engines.

Just saw video of the collision on the TV.... nasty. Both planes exploded on contact and went straight in. I'm betting the pilots were dead before they hit the ground.

The group was called "Moments of Disaster", or something like that. They came from one of the northern States.

Apparently, their routine is all ad lib...no two shows exactly the same.

Perhaps that was a causative factor in the crash.

Default Disaster

It was "Masters of Disaster" a name which proved to be prophetic.

I spoke to one of my flying mates here who has seen them in action and he said they just kept pushing the envelope to make a more spectacular show.

The causative factor was one guy climbing into the other one. Another second's delay and he would have been well clear. It's just like some of the previous airshow midairs around the world... when your luck runs out you're screwed. I just hope they died quickly.
