Refitting Lugs to a WW1 Cap Badge
Refitting Lugs to a WW1 Cap Badge
May 16 2006 at 5:14 PM David R. Clark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This posting has a practical/engineering theme to it. I purchased an excellent WW1 16th Cdn Horse cap badge from Marway Militaria. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to refit a pair of lugs to the back? Or where I can get an extra pair of lugs in the first place without removing them from another badge?? I look forward to your replies - I figured I should ask before I make the attempt (with the potential to cause damage). D.C. Saskatoon, SK. |

Re:Cap badge lugs
When lugs broke on our air force badges,we'd remove the other lug,go to a local fabric /linen store, ask your wife,go to the attachments section,or ask a clerk, and they'll point you in the right section(take the badge to show them).Look for new lugs,or solder the old ones on the back. They also have a plastic attachment, the inner side is sticky, you might want to add a permanmt sticking glue to the inside. The clasp has a safety pin type needle attachment to pin the badge to fabric.Anyway, worked for us guys in the pipe band.I learned this by word of mouth from other members as I'm no expert.Good luck in your search.
